You don't get many chances to win the English derby, a dogs racing career is short, so i fully sympathise with John, he put so much hard work into his dog only to be robbed by the distance of the race, and i'm sure he is'nt bothered about the money, he was more bothered about winning The English Derby, one of the biggest events in whippet racing and the prestige it brings.I think people are going over the top. John has a right to be annoyed. [a whippets career is very short]

Pleased your keeping the Derby going Chris & Paul, it wouldn't be the same if anyone else took it over :thumbsup: you 2 do a fantastic job :thumbsup: Really pleased, especially after the smart arse posted on here stating "Enjoy this Devon it will be the last" :clown:
Regarding the distance I'm as much to blame as Paul for not checking it, genuine mistake.

The distance will be measured when we go down this back end, and the lines will be painted with creosote :thumbsup:

Just a word of advice Geoff if you use creasote it will burn the grass away and cause the soil along the line to crack open, we did this at Poolsbrook and had to fill in with soil :thumbsup: Les
