Woke up this morning to what sounded like a bomb going off at 7 am..... most of the windows have been blasted out in the street. A pick up carrying Acetlylene bottles exploded right outside our house and it has been cordened off for 24 hours

it was so frightening... hubby was away with my son for the night and just me and my daughter in the house - everyone is ok here, but the guy died in the vehicle.

I cant tell you how horrible it all was Im still shaking.

Here is the news clip - some of you may have seen it on the TV....

and this was taken from my bedroom window... :(

To be honest I ve kept myself busy dishing cups of tea and coffee out to the fire crews and police force..... they deserve a medal for what they do. Bless them all.

Looking at those pictures and how close to the houses it's really a mirical nobody else was injured.

Oh Janis, I heard it on the news this morning but I had no idea it was where you lived. I'm glad you are all ok but very sorry for the young man who lost his life. I'm glad your hubby is back home, you need a big cuddle and a big drink. Take care :huggles:

Jenny

An acetylene bottle is still being damped down on the market as Im here..... just as a precaution for 24 hours so some people have not been allowed back into there houses yet either.

...but a small price to pay... for someone who has not lived to tell the tale..

Janis, I heard this on the radio and thought it was the village you lived in but I never thought it would have been so close to you. It must have been horrendous and really frightening and I'm glad that you are all OK. It's very sad about the driver - I've just noticed from your 2nd post that you knew him. What an awful shock for his family. :(

Thats awful Janis - thanks goodness you are okay

Glad you and your family are ok Jan :huggles:

Deepest sympathy to the family of the unfortunate man who died. :(

I know it sounds awful Julie, but I could hear Louise shouting mam mam are you ok - once Id heard her voice and knew she was ok my second thought was the dogs - I ran downstairs to check and the dogs did not know what the hell was going on - pup yelping in his crate ...sirens going off.... I cant explain....people milling around outside everywhere...

it was honestly and I speak from my heart, like a scene from Iraq or Ireland in the troubles.... :(

Im just thankful Im here to tell the tale unlike others..

Glad you and your family are all safe :huggles:

OMG, just goes to show, you never know what is around the corner and really should make the most of every day. Have a hug ( and a glass of wine). :huggles:

Im sorry I must go offline now - and there are still police watching the area overnight - to check the houses without windows for the night, ours being one of them. Some have no windows at all. :(

Think of us, dont think Ill sleep properley tonight. But will try to come back online tommorow.

Thank you all for the well wishes, you are all brilliant. :huggles:
