Unfortunately due to the ill health of the present organisers they will be unable to run the Devon festival next year and so Devon 2009 will be run by a new Devon Festival committee.
The preliminary programme is as follows:-

Sat 13th/Sun 14th June The English Derby

Wed 17th June available for BWRA

Sat 20th June IRG event

Sun 21st June available for BWRA

Whichever date not taken up by the BWRA will be run by the new Devon Festival Committee

Further details will follow as they become available

Enquiries contact

Love the Derby weekend  Don't know why it's moved?but think it's great that folk down south will get a chance to attend the Derby  and seeing as it's part of the Devon holiday think most people will attend  Would like to wish the commitee, the very best of :luck: for next year.

mmmmmmmmm, would like to know too,bit sneaky, wonder who can shine a light on this, anyway cant we have a big event up north as i think this is unfair for our scotish members,

no one from aycliffe club knew of this until tonight regarding the derby :( did no about the new devon committee:blink: good luck Devon :luck:

Kenny thats a great idea sure it would be great too  plenty to think about already been offered sponsorship

SUNNY DEVON OR RAIN NORTH EAST DEVON WINS HANDS DOWN GET YOUR SUN GLASS & SUN HATS REALLY BOYS AND GIRLS SHOULD BE GOOD. 8) 8) 8)

seriously i think its great devon continues not sure on the derby but thats racing once again good luck

I'm just glad that both events can now go ahead

Having only been to the Derby whilst it's been at Aycliffe it's always been a great weekend and held in high esteem by all racers, i'm sure an event with this kind of prestige could be held anywhere in the country and still be one of the best events of the year add that to the Devon week and it's bound to be brilliant. I can't speak for the Scottish lot who will have to travel a lot of miles but if this year was anything to go by i'm sure they'll get booked up asap and have a riot

true Vicky the derby originally was to be swapped around the country think it will work in Devon too we will be there

can someone from the committe let us know if theres camping on the feild next year or do racers have to book onto sites please

NICE TO HAVE SOME THINK TO LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR 8) 8) 8)

 WELL DECCA SON WE BE BOOKING A HOLIDAY FROM THEM DATES M8,UNLESS,THE NEW FED,SET A EVENT UP. COME ON NEWFED,GET YOUR THINKING CAPS ON

I can understand you being p*ssed off Decca, but i don't think it's ever been set in stone that the English Derby is to always be held in the North East / N Yorks whatever it is. It's been held in Devon before and wasn't it at Dudley once upon a time?

As i said in an earlier post, although it means a lot of travelling for the Scottish, they all made a good holiday of it this year and really combining Devon & the English Derby, for them it's killing two birds with one stone.

Ok so the Derby isn't in the NE next year, but it's swings and roundabouts as you have the NNWRF Straight Champs at Whitton Castle, and what great potential that has
