yep thay can have colds

and there is also a risk of cross contamination to your self

sometimes they can snuffle and and snort cos they have some sort of an obstruction .... a good few years ago now, one of my dogs (she was only young then) kept making a horrible snorting noise, never having heard kennel cough before we wondered if she had kennel cough?

The vet examined her and extracted a very long blade of grass that she had somehow got stuck between the very back of her nose and down her throat! how she did that, I have no idea (w00t)

i'v been told by the vet that dog DO NOT GET COLDS. I would get it checked by the vet asap. zeb had a sneezing fit (big time)last year thought it was a cold but it turned out to be kennel cough. its not just a cought but can be a sneeze. he had a very wet nose. There are cases of kc going around at the moment. so i would get it checked.

I am no expert on this at all, but (lol!)

Seeing as a human cold is not a specific disease (there are well over 100 different germs that will do it) - its just a low level virus that makes you feel grotty, snotty, sneezey and coughy

I cant see why dogs couldn't get something similar

Although technically cold viruses live only in the noses of humans and not in animals except chimpanzees and other higher primates

recently my dogs had runny noses and sneezing i was waiting for it to turn into kennel cough but it didnt although one did make funny throat sounds for a day lol i have 6 dogs and only 3 where affected "did they have a cold lol "

they can get chest and throat infections as can anything, or it can be kennel cough. or there is something tickling/stuck in nasal passage??

or they can be allergic to something. or there could be something connected with the lungs-infection etc...

many differents- its just not given the name - a 'cold'. think thats a virus?

but if my dog was sneezeing or coughing i would call vets and arrange an appointment asap- make sure to isolate- incase it is kc..

xx

i hav a whippet ,,that snorts alot from time to time,, normally that means a throat infection,,, which a 5 day course off antibotics will clear up

as for coughs or kennal cough i hav not come across yet with any of my dogs( TOUCH WOOD :sweating: )
