I had to laugh at OH the other day he said he had seen a beagle???? but it looked as if it had run full pelt into a wall..

Im guessing its one of those designer types called a puggle.. Now hes convinced theres a dog called a puddle !

When I had Mini Schnauzers, people thought my Labradoodle was a Giant version. Since then my Doodles have been called Afghan Hounds, Wofhounds, Bearded Collies, and a few weeks ago I was asked if I got my Briards from XXX kennel as they were the double of one of their dog

When I had a Manchester Terrier, people thought he was either a Dobermann puppy or a Whippet

My Norwegian Elkhound is usually mistaken for a Husky or an Akita (understandably) but one small child called him a hairy table (OK, he is pretty broad). The most annoying one was the woman who was really snarky, didn't ask what he was, but said "That's the trouble with these designer breeds, they have terrible health problems". Elkounds walk with a real stiff-legged gait, and he was mooching and sniffing the ground, but a "designer breed"!

My Ridgeback is rarely mistaken for anything. For some reason some folks call him a “Razorback”.... don’t know why, maybe there was a TV show or cartoon character “Razorback”, before my time??

More often though well meaning fathers explain to their kids - “this dog fights lions!”.

I always get asked if My cocker spaniel a
Poodle
Water spaniel
Sussex spaniel

but he’s just a fluffy hairy weird spaniel

and then of course there are the dogs where even the vet is stumped.. Remy was a dog my son found in a field back in 2005 and bought home.. I walked into the vet with him and was asked 'whats it supposed to be'? After some debate we settled on calling him a boeren fox (similar to the american Rat terrier ) but he really was a strange little puzzle...the head of a JRT or chi with the legs of a chicken and a body like a beer barrel. He ran like a whippet and hunted with a passion. Had a dense coat that water ran off and he stunk like pepe le pew.. No wonder he was confused !

90% of the walks I go on, people ask me if Teddy is a red setter... probably because he's red and a very large and leggy cocker. I also get a lot of people asking if he's a cross or sprocker.
