Dog Pack Attacks Croc In Cairns

At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even a

certain justice manifested within that cruelty.

The croc, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally considered

the "apex predator", can still fall victim to implemented 'team work'

strategy, made possible due to the tight knit social structure and

"survival of the pack mentality" bred into the canines. See the

remarkable photograph attached, courtesy of Nature Magazine.

Note: the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the gator preventing it from

breathing, while another dog has a hold on the tail to keep it from

thrashing. The third dog attacks the soft underbelly of the croc.

:- "

that's great

got to admit though, I was all prepared to see the real thing, gore and all, as I know they're living creatures and I don't know any crocs personally, but I absolutely hate them (along with slugs...which I admit to 'salting' when no-one else is there to move them :b )

Me to was almost cringing to see a picture of the after marth of what you had written.

Great photo :) :) :) :)

!!! How appalling.

Truly hoped someone stepped in to put the croc out of its misery - dogs are not renowned to be clean or quick killers!

So well written and the team of tinies really has their act together.

As an aside, the appalling thing is that (even) I was drawn to the heading altrhough expecting it to be real and really would have been upset by the images.

Why are we drawn to 'horrible' things?

Please put it on under a different heading!

I nearly didn't click on this because I could not stand to see any more bad pictures.

Lots of people must be missing out on seeing this photo and it is so cute!
