Hi everyone!

I'm new to this forum so I'll start by introducing myself :) My name is Kate and live in London. My owner is a Basset Hound named Scully :p

I'm after some bed advice as Summer is coming, woohooo! Which is not great news for Scully, as much as he loves sunbathing in the warmer weather he certainly doesn't like walking in it!

He currently has a plastic bed with one of these bad boys in it:

Yep, a Sharples & Grant Do Not Disturb Bed Insert. Don't get me wrong he absolutely loves it but with Summer coming I know full well he is gonna be one hot dog in that thing! So I'm after something that is a bit cooler but still as comfy as this. Just wondered if anyone knew of any good quality dog bed inserts? I have been looking for months with no luck :(

Any help/advice would really be appreciated ^_^

Hi there!

Memory foam beds or bed inserts are good as they adapt to the climate so your dog should never get too hot.

They are super comfy and super cool and unfortunately super expensive!

Hope that helps :)

Hi Sophie!

Thanks for the reply! I think I'll be looking into those memory foam beds. They sound right up his street! :D

Can I suggest that you look at potentially getting Scully a Chillow or a Canine Cooler bed or one of their more generic alternatives?

My dog Molly has lots of very long fur and so overheats very easily in summer, but she has a big advantage over Scully in that she is a very strong swimmer and we live close to a couple of rivers where she can swim pretty much every day in the summer to reduce her temperature. If she didn't then I'd be lining her bed with a Canine Cooler to help her stay cool.

Most of these beds use assorted gels to start off 10C cooler than the room and absorb heat for up to an hour from your dog. I've got lots of friends who have similar for their dogs for the summer time.
