Dog Collars That Shock/behaviour Control

does anyone use/recommend one of these please?

don't want one with any added extras on such as torch, panic alarms etc...

I thought that shock collars were illegal.

You can buy spray collars that spray the dog with citronella or water, I have a friend who works for the RSPCA locally, who uses these collars in her work with a good rate of success

Have used them couple of times, only found them useful on a young dog, the older ones seem to retain their habits. One was for chasing sheep and that didnt work at all, she would be thrown on the floor with the shock as i had eventually on full but still carried on and the other one was for barking, that did the trick but needed to do booosters every couple of weeks, that was on minimum.

What do u need to use one for?

Thats horrible, I'm sorry but whatever the dogs crime there have to be better ways of controlling that such violence as this, and obviously there is as it hadn't the desired affect. Time, patience and education is surely the better way! and control near livestock!

not when it had 6 sheep the first day i had it, wanted to give it a chance and sort it out, this was the last measure but she was so intent on killing, as i said, i started on the light pressure but had to build it up to full and it just didnt work

but if its not let loose near sheep it cannot get them...control or prevention is better in my book than violence. especially when the animal has a history so you are prewarned.

you have no idea what experience I have as I have no idea on yours, I'm just stating an opinion, and don't want others reading to think that we all feel shocking dogs is ok.

maybe some are illegal????-the one Towy describes doesn't sound quite the same that I've been told about-

i think i'd be doubling my problems if mine was thrown to the floor.

a chap with a husky is having great success with his collar-but describes -the shock as something VERY MINOR. :b a mere flick!

the water spray isn't working for me-he's far too aggitated and doesn't even notice the water....he's attending socialisation classes too-which are quite exhausting........

Yes I think you're right!

I don't know the precise nature of the problem with your dog, but time on its own, being walked without others, with just one person, I find can help a lot of problems...but as I say i don't know anything about the details of this case.
