I am fourty year old women, living in relatively small 2 room flat in an urban city.

Want to get a dog (have owned dog when I was much younger).

The dog will have a 30-40 min walk every morning with me, a 45-60 min walk in the afternoon with dog walker and then again long evening walks with me.

The dog will be alone about 9-10 hours every day (besides the walk in afternoon).

Weekends it will be with me.

Any advice on breed that could suit? I live in a hot country.

I have experience with King Charles Cavalier. Open to resuce dog but just want to know what kind of "breed" should dominate.

Since the dog will have a lot of time alone during week and be in flat with small balcony only.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey Louise - welcome to Dog Forum - I am sorry you didnt get a reply sooner!! :)

9-10 hours alone is a long time for a dog?

Can you get someone in every day to take him/her for a walk and a cuddle/play?

if you have got someone to help then fine, the walk time your suggesting is fine, one thing id say is watch the balcony. but all the best.

Hi! Welcome to the forum!! :)

I agree it's a long time to be left alone. Sounds like a lovely amount of walkie time though :)

Thanks.

Yes I will get dog walker every day during week.

Wondered if there are any breeds that do better in apartment living.

Thanks!

small dogs, big walk and sleepy sleepy

There are a lot of breeds good for apartment living. Do a google search for Which dog would be best quiz, and it comes up with quite a few websites. There you can put in all your particulars and they come up with suggestions.

I hope it's ok to put a link in, heres the one I've used in the past just for 'window shopping' :

This one gives you a list then click on that for information about the breed.

I'm sure you could train a dog to go toilet in a kitty litter tray if need be. Also think about what the dog was bred to do as a lot of the small terrier breeds would go bonkers and thus tare up the place if not stimulated/exercised enough.
