HI all

With Spring banging on the door it is time to sort out the garden

BUT with my 2 litttle darlings I have lots of bare patches on the grass !! (w00t)

Someone said to try Dog Rocks in their water or give them Bottled Mineral Water!

Has anyone else tried the above and which one would you recommend from experience

Many Thanks

Tracey

I have used dog rocks, but they are expensive and dont always work. They work for some of my dogs but not all. I have never tried mineral water, I would be interested to hear from anyone who has. BUT a good squirt of ketchup in there dinner seems to do the trick. I do sometimes find myself eating there dinner with them though

Be interested to hear the answer to this, my dad is complaining about his lawn!

Thank you from me and my lawn! I will try tomato sauce in their food, at the moment I am going behind them with a hose diluting it out, but occasionally they have a sneaky one when I am not looking :D

Ha ha! Good job mine isn't apart from my neighboiur who is a gardener, what do we look like? I have a bag of lawn seed and constantly re-seed as I am diluting all summer, a handful here, a handful there... :)

Is it OK to seed a lawn with Dogs ? - Sorry If I sound dim but i thought it was a No No as seeds can get into a Dogs pad ... but if no one has had that problem Im gonna go and get some

Have I heard wrong ? - My lawn really needs re-seeding and I was going to leave it until we go away for 10 days in July and ask a neighbour to water for me .

Jezz - who said owning a dog was simple !! - Im learning all the time xxxx

I've just had all the grass (or what was left of it) in my garden dug up and replaced it with paving stones (w00t)

If the dogs want to pee on grass they have to go out in the fields now where it doesn't seem to damage it

That's what we did here, as the grass got very smelly!!!! Much easier to deal with, Zoflora Lemon deals with the pee smells.

I haven't had a problem with grass seed stuck in their feet so far, touch wood, but as they run in tall seeded grasses and on sand dune grass I do check their feet quickly when we get back from a walk, coming home to a nice lawn after a holiday sound good though :)

I bought a multipack of dog rocks on ebay and got them cheaper than in Pets at home (v.expensive there)

It says put the whole pack of rocks in the bowl for a month but Ella doesn't drink much and her bowl is full with 1/2 pack so we can stretch them out for twice as long, it does seem to have helped a lot, she's had them for 4 weeks now.

You're supposed to leave the rocks in and just top up the water but I do change the water completely each few days/week as it gets all bits in, eugh !

good luck

Thanks - I think Im gonna try them

I have fenced off 1/2 the garden for the time being so at least my little girls can play on some grass !! and the dogs have their own little patch.

I keep watching them as they pee + follow them with a jug of water but its not working as in this hot weather they are drinking and peeing loads

I think if you have one or two bitches it would work better, as I have 6 & the lawn is only very small it was difficult to say it worked or didnt. The snow this year has really taken it's toll as well as the woofers!!!

My back garden is paved. Although the dogs are out there most of the day they wait for their walks to pee. The only exception is in the morning, we then have a small patch with gravel and bark and they pee there.
