Hi all,

i just need to tell sameone about this before i really get mad.

If just got home (late) went to the butchers, And their was a large black dog running all over the road. Afew cars almost hit it. :(

The butcher just stood their watching it.

When i got out from there the dog came 1/2 way to me, it was then that i saw that this poor dog had a muzzle on (one of those matterial ones) it looked quite tight on him.

My phone is flat so couldnt use it, went back to the butchers to see if they would phone the police to let them know about it. NO! they did not went to know. So went to the pet shop which is 2 doors down, the bloke came out to see but told me that he didnt have the phone number of the dog warden  And did not went to know. so i went to the police, told them and they were going to send sameone out to look for it. (yeah like they really will)

I just hope that this poor dog is ok, I did try to get to him,but he kept running into the road. then he ran off. :(

Oh, I wish I was near to where you live ... I would be out with you trying to catch him (I am in Yorkshire). Is it worth going out again with a lead and some really smelly interesting food, and try to catch him that way, then you could remove the muzzle?

Sorry, I realise you've probably already thought of all this ... just wish so much I could help. Please keep us posted if you have any more news of him?

And what a strange attitude for the butcher to have ... what does he mean, he "doesn't want to get involved"?? Involved in what, for heaven's sake? You only needed him to make a flaming phone call. Full of the milk of human kindness, some people, aren't they.

How very true, no one gives a monkies, its number one these days, heres one good example, as you most probably know i still have brother in law in hospital being in there 4 months, they have now bunged him into a cottage hospital cos HIS FAMILY cant cope with him, more to the point DONT WANT HIM, if it wasnt for me and my lady would you believe he wouldnt get any visitors unless i take em, id literally have him myself if i was a bit younger, god i hope the day never comes when i depend on anybody, i will rephrase that, THAT DAY WILL NEVER COME

I'v been back around trying to fined him, with the car but it looks like his done a vinishing act, i did ask same people walking there dogs but they have not seen anything of him.

Really hope he found his way home ok.

I just keep thinking that it could of been zeb walking around like that, and no-one trying to help him. :'(

Be careful if you do manage to catch the dog, I once tried to catch a little yorkie that was running around with a halti on - I thought maybe it had run off from someone walking it. When I put my hand down towards its collar it jumped up and grabbed my thumb, hanging on for dear life!!! It drew blood and bit quite deep. I went to a nearby shop to buy a plaster and they told me that the owners let it out every day and left the halti on as it was known to bite!!!

Awful I know but maybe the dog was let out the same way with the muzzle left on on purpose! Maybe that is why the butcher did not want to get involved?

Hope the poor dog is OK - try and phone the dog warden in that area - they may be already aware of it.

Just like you I get really  with people who let their dogs run lose and with people who let there dog walk beside the road when the little darlings should be on the inside if I was were you was Iwould have brought it something to eat to show I was there to help it I remember a few years ago there was a chocolate lab running around so I gave her something to eat and took her in to my home luckly she had a tag and I called the number and they come to collect her and they where so gratefull because they didnt even notice she had gone from the garden so it was a happy ending there so may be some one else saw the dog and was able to catch it you never know or did the police turn up in the end

My boss has a patterdale bitch called Lindy ` who occasionally finds her way out of her garden  and today as I was going to work I spotted a patterdale trotting along the pavement near where she lives (w00t) I quickly pulled over causing traffic to build uo  I ran up to her shouting `come here Lindy , when I noticed she had a `willie ` and she belonged to the vanman that she had just run back too  Good job I didnt try to pick her up wasnt it (w00t)

It made me late for work , but it was a good reason wasnt it ;)

I do hope that poor dog is ok . :( Even if yud caught it , keeping it muzzled till you had assessed it would have been a good idea

As for the pet shop , they certainly wouldnt be getting any more custom from me , Havnt they heard of a phone book or directory enquiries
