Hiy
Lately, Hugo has been playing with his new toy, a MASSIVE dog bean bag type thing. It's about as long as a 1 year old (human) bassically and around as tall as a small bunny. Sort of a pillow, really. Anyway, he likes to bite her and sometimes sleep near her and past few weeks he's been supposedly trying to 'breed' with her. He sticks his nose on her back, lowers his rump and wiggles it around in a sort of downward dog position, it's humping bassically. If you don't know what I'm talking about this pic is what he was doing, but to the toy. Screen Shot 2020-11-13 at 18.14.06.png I'm probably overeacting way to much but, just wanted to make sure if it was normal for a 3month old too be doing it?

Thx :)

I'm afraid so. And this sort of behaviour is seldom rooted in sexuality, it often comes from non-sexual excitement, or overtired-ness, or maybe a little bit of anxiety.

Note to self; I really must bookmark that page, Googling ”Victoria Stilwell humping” might get me into trouble one of these days.

Absolutely, it's normal. It's good that Hugo has decided who his 'beloved' is, because if he starts doing it to your furniture, youe leg, or even your guests' legs (once we're allowed to have guests again), you can redirect him to his humpy toy. If you can't see any signs of anxiety that need addressing, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Sounds familiar. My last dog got very excited humping his teddy, and his pizzle would come out so it definitely looked sexual to me. Male dogs will try to mount each other as a means of domination. A neighbour's Labrador would often try to mount him if we met on walks which he wasn't too happy about.

Dogs can do this when they are stressed. Mounting becomes a habit. My neighbour's dog used to do this to a toy dog and it never became a problem though a bit embarrassing when she had visitors. :D

Humping can also be done by a female, my girl occasionally humped my male Shih Tzu, he never appeared to be bothered but as a friend pointed out, not many full males would object to a slim, good looking, long legged female acting fruity with him.
