I have a lovely one year old whippet cross bitch who suffers badly from travel sickness, despite me trying various remedies. Having spent the last year only travelling within a 3 mile radius of home, it would be wonderful if someone local to me at Hoghton, near Preston in Lancashire would either "sit" my dog at times that they wish or even engage in a dog-share, so that I could enjoy the odd day out or couple of days away. Candy Dog loves children & other dogs, is clean & quiet in the house----you could have the pleasure of a gentle dog with none of the expense & knowing that you can give her back! I'm not keen to put her in kennels----it just seems such a bleak alternative.

Can you get a local dog walker/sitter in? Maybe a card in your local shop?

Its a shame you dont live near anothe of our new members who had the opposite problem - he desperately wants a dog but works really long hours so cant commit to his own dog... I will go find the thread and see where he lives...

And all the doggy stuff is up this end!

Big welcome to the board!

Anna's idea of putting a card up in a local shop us great :)

I have a cat sitter that I totally trust - without her I wouldn't ever go away! I know how hard it is.

Thank you so much for the welcome! I did try cards in local shops a few months ago with no takers, but you've encouraged me to try again. I think my dog would be such an asset to a family / person who'd like to have some doggy contact & fun without the overall responsibility.

I have not heard from the lady so perhaps she is sorted out.

Thanks so much to Carol for her response. We met a few days ago, her lovely dog & Candy, my whippet, got on quite well & Carol is happy to have Candy as a visitor to her home! Hurrah!
