I have a fab little 22lb bitch who is extremely fast, fiery, bold and competitive until you put her on the track  Inca is more than capable of being up there with really good dogs (as we have had the occasinal glance of what she can do on the track) but most of the time she either messes the other dogs about or she'll tail off or stop........On her own or with dogs that she knows, shes 100% focused on the lure and very competitive until you add a strange dog........this is normally when she lays on the other dog, tags along behind it or even worse........stops  I keep taking her back to trials and trying to build her confidence up. I'm always at the pick up for her race (as shes very over bonded to me) so that she knows where i am, and even when you think shes getting better .....she'll do something stupid :( .....I'm running out of things to do now so any suggestions will be very much appreciated

Thanks Hannah.

Has the balancing got anything to do with lead and ears :- " and is it a case of tongue in cheek by Mark

Knowing Mark, it probably means teaching it to swim with concrete arm bands! :p

Scott.

Thanks for all of you're help guy's  it's helped no end  ........All i wanted was some help with my bitch as i've never had a dog like this one  . My other 3 whippets have been really easy to clear and have all been 100% true and honest on the track o:) .......unlike this one.......but saying that concrete arm bands do sound attractive

No balancing has nothing to do with concreat!

Hannah when balancing a dog I think you would find a 12g ideal with number 4 but a 20g would serve the same purpose. :- "

on a serious note Hannah as you know we have one that was running great untill she was knocked over at the Indi Bend despite travelling all over and getting her trials everyware, now she will run solo's anyware but will not race except at the Northern & HOE? some never get out of it when put off for what ever reason. (Dogs eh who'd have em :p )

Try feeding her off the lure even if you have to make a one ..also try getting someone else to race her ..a few years ago we had a dog acting similar to your, we found that she was jealous of any dog she did not know getting to me first at the end of a race ...
