Before my son was born my mum bought a lovely little Peter Rabbit soft toy that sat over the bassinet waiting till he came home from hospital. 'Bunny' became his special cuddly toy for going to sleep and went on many adventures with us. He also became special as he was a sort of connection and reminder of my mum after she died.
Well Easter about 6 years ago Patrick must have left him in the post office on the Thursday before good Friday - well he was devastated and nobody got much sleep that night
Anyway desparate parents that we were - we told him that Bunny had probably gone off to help the Easter Bunny and would be back as soon as he was finished with the egg delivery. In desparation (read NO SLEEP for 4 nights :sweating: ) on Monday when I rang the home phone of the lady who runs the post office and told her that we had an emergency ie missing Bunny she agreed to open up and have a look around for him - sure enough there he was in amongst the toys! Patrick was impressed - no one else at kinder had a toy that actually went on rounds with the Easter Bunny!
Anyway, Bunny (and Patrick) are nearly 10 now. Poor much mended, virtually threadbare but still MUCH loved and special Bunny happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when I was minding a golden retriever puppy for a friend and yes well the inevitatable happened and Bunny was shredded - nothing much left but some stuffing and a few scraps of material. This was a major disaster so what did my other half do?? hit the internet and found a lady who repairs soft toys (99% of her business is dog related!) Too cut a long story short - she took Bunny's remains on and went looking for 'organ donors' at local op shops. Well, after 6 weeks she rang and said that he is ready to pick up on the Saturday before Easter - SWEET :luck:
as promised - a happy ending.
I couldn't take a photo of the 'damage' I was to gutted at the time but when we pick him up on Saturday I'll post pics of the reincarnated Bunny
Come to think of it that rabbit has had a charmed life living with a household of whippets for 10 years  Someone must have been watching over him o
