Just back from hols ---- rang Mick and Lynne to see how Kes and Nemo run at Westhoughton only to be told that two of thier dogs have been poorly also with same sort of thing---

steve

Touch wood none of mine have come down with anything.

I think its an idea if the traps were sprayed down with something before they're used for the whippets next time.

It is a good idea Vicky but a better idea is for people who's dogs are pooly to stay away from tracks. When mine had it i never went anywere for 3 weeks. Even leaving the bad dog at home and going racing will spread it.

NEMO (GUESS WHAT) AND BEAR ( LITTLE FLYER ) HAVE BOTH BEEN ILL ALL WEEK

BUT KES (KESTRAL FLYER ) HAS BEEN FINE HOPE ALL THE OTHER DOGS ARE FINE AND THE ILL ONES GET BETTER SOON

Well yeh, couldn't agree more!

Heard this morning that its not just being transmitted around tracks.Notts RSPCA shelter have got it,so it seems the 'bug' is all over

A tip I learned from Steve Rowell was to wash your dogs feet in Milton after they had run (which is used for babies bottles), because dogs do lick their feet quite a lot and this could transmit any germs they might have picked up whilst racing.

Just a thought

I'd be wary of using Milton as it is a bleach (hypochlorite).

TBH a lot of ''bacterial load'' (germs) can be removed with soap and water. Hospitals now use ''dishwashers'' prior to sterilising these days for this reason.

Hope everyones dogs that have been poorly are feeling better now. We were ok here with Indy allthough 2 of the greyhounds were a bit off colour monday night.

Milton every time 4 me ive been using it donkies years

Can also buy Hydrogen peroxide diluted solution from chemist brilliant for cleaning cuts in humans and dogs.I think there are 3 different strengths but buy 9% solution myself, can use weaker solution for cleaning dogs teeth. Karen
