The field has now been rolled for the show folks. So were looking forward to seeing everybody there again this year. With hopefully,a few new faces. As you all know. This show is for a very good cause, and we are expecting a good turnout,if the weather is kind to us.The proceeds of the show, will be going to 2 charities in 1,this year.DIABETIS DEPARTMENT,CHILDRENS WARD,ALTNAGELVIN HOSPITAL,and PARENTS SUPPORT GROUP,(DIABETIC)ALTNAGELVIN HOSPITAL.These are 2 very worthy causes. So anyone wishing to make a donation. No matter how big,or small. Can do so,at the show itself.Or through BARRONTOP FARM,DONEMANA.Looking forward to seeing you all there folks.Once again, can i just say. There is an open day at the farm too,and a family pet show, running alongside the lurcher n terrier show. This is a day,for all the family. Not just doggy men,and women.Loads of animals to see,and a bouncy castle, and great play area, for the kids.Proper toilet Facilities, and a vey good cafe, for the hungry buggers.Plus burgers, hotdogs, and home made irish stew.So forget the flasks, and sandwiches for once folks.Come to Barrontop, for a great family, and doggy day. SIMULATED COURSING 11AM START. STRAIGHT RACING TO FOLLOW. SHOW WILL START,AFTER STRAIGHT RACING. ALL RACING FINALS,,AFTER SHOW. There is a genuine reason for this folks. As the racing will be very hard going. So if its a warm day.The safety of all racing dogs.Must come 1st. This may change, weather permitting. But for now,the program will run this way.Which will leave all dogs getting a proper rest, before the final runs.

can you give a bit of info re terriers and pet show in case I can entice a few more people to go to the show?

I met someone from Eglinton with a whippet at a match show so I told them about Donemana. They were interested but I said it wouldn't start before 12 noon, so I hope they've followed my advice to look at the k9 website

BT48 0JD, I think, as posted in an earlier message

how about some directions, say from Donemana village, for drivers without a satnav?

I've told a couple more people in the Derry area about the event, hope some of them will turn up

Hi folks. Not that long home from Ballywalter. As i fell asleep in the car, after leaving Alannah home, lol. Was a very strnious day, yesterday. As i was up around 6am,to get all the other dogs sorted, that werent going racing. We opted not to show any of our dogs,to to keep things quiet on here.Anyway,i dont think there should be dogs belonging to any club members,in the ring.No matter what,or where a show is being held,or by what club.Just dont look too good. When one is put up,in the ring.Ive seen a dog get reserve champion once, and then leave to go home,in the judges trailer, once. Not good, lol.Anyway, the show was a great success.Simulated coursing was a bit late taking off. With not many dogs,or folk ariving, till 12is.But with a 300yrd +course, and 3 good jumps. It took a fair dog,to not only complete the course. But to make the final. The to finalists, were very evenly matched, and what a pair of fine athletes. They both, showed the rest, how it was done.A bit disapointing,to see so many great looking dogs, that couldnt jump a 2n1/2 foot jump. But those that did jump it.Showed that it wasnt too hard, after all.The eventual winner.Had never seen this sort of thing before. But what a star.He put on a realy fine display of not only clearing fences, without any sign of hesitation at all.But also a fine display of hunting, and coursing a lure.As did big Jacko's wee Ace dog.Who gave the winner a very tight race.Right to the finish line.Where the line judge, would have had trouble sepperating them. But for the fact that poor Ace,missed out on clearing the last fence. So lost out on a simple points rule.In saying that though. What a wee dog he is,big man.Congratulations.Thanx too.To a certain girl.Who's dog was 1st over the line, and given the decission.Who came up the field and let all concerned ,know that her dog, missed out on a fence. So was therefor not the winner,of his course.Nice to see a bit of honesty.Although i seen very little of the show.As i had other duties to carry out,and Alannah to take care off,and make sure her blood sugars were kept under control. What i did see,was a pleasing turnout. As the show progressed.I took it in hand,to get the whippet racing under way, during the last few classes, and finals. We used only the bottom half of the race track for this.Which was a good tight uphill run,of 200yrds.Some pretty fast wee speed merchants went up that hill, and it was Eddie and Lizz, who took the 1st and 2nd places in the final.Show over.It was time for the lurcher racing to start. This was a 400yrd run, over the tightest race course ive seen her in ireland.Must be a good 80ft rise, from start to finish. Some very tired and exausted lurchers came up that hill, and were showing signs of being well knackered.Even before they reached the top of the field. The final of the under, was won by our own wee blue bitch,(SHADOW).Who at 14 months of age.Showed no interest whatsoever. In either looking at,or chasing a lure. Then all of a sudden, the penny dropped. So we just put her away for the winter, and did nothing with her, till 6 weeks ago.Always knew it was there, and had my work cut out,to find it,and make it work. Kirsty's DANNYBOI,had his work cut out in the final, after a very easy win in his heats.Just winning the final by a few lengths, and making it,2 out of 2,racing championships,so far.We gave RENI a run too.As she's been laid up this last 5 weeks.Never have i seen a bitch in season, bleed so bloody much.We actualy thought she was heamouraging from something,on a few occasions. But were advised that it was just like a woman having a very bad monthly thing. She's lost a fair bit of weight, and her condition isnt what it was.She ran out of the track, and took a mad notion of clearing a 4ft fence, with another 4ft fence 5ft behind it.All in one mercifull leap, without any sigh of hesitation.Land on the other side, and then make a mad dash fot the lure, which was still going up the race track. While she was on the other side of the safety rope. She flew past all the onlookers, and back into the track.Put a hell of a run in,and actualy qualified,a few yards behind the winner of the heat.Id told Kirsty, that she was only to have one run.Whether she qualified or not.So she was withdrawn, and put back in the trailer.Ive never been one for over running my dogs, and once up that 400yrd course. Was more than enough, for an unfit dog.The run will do her good though. As it was the 1st time she's been out of her kennel,in 6 weeks. Danny's win.Just ended our day lovely. Its been many, many years.Sice we had a good wee one,and a good big one.Congratulations,to all the show winners, and also to Eddie and Lizz.Taking 1st and 2nd,in the whippet racing.Congratulations also.To another member of our club,Barry.Who won the terrier racing. Also making it 2,championships,from 2 shows. We finished the day, with a very well recieved bowl of home made soup, from the staff,of Barrontop Farm. Our thanx to Deadrie, for taking all the pix,on the day. Also a big thankyou,to all who supported out 1st show of the year.As yet,we dont have a clue, how much was raised for the 2 charities. But soon as i know.It will be posted,on here. With Ballywalter, being on the same day.Our takings, and attendance was down, quite a bit.But our loyal supporters,(and i wont mention any by name,in case i miss a few).Did themselves and us,proud.Thanx again folks. The day just couldnt have happened, without you. Looking forward now,to July 31st,and our next show. If ive missed anyone,or anything, out. Then i appologise folks. Old age,i think, lol. ..Billy.....
