so ive been told.(dont know who it is or what they've failed on though).

Maybe when/if the story comes out, racing bodies could look into the drug testing issue.

look,

if there was no drug testing in whippet racing then any racer could give all sorts of steroids or enhancers to their dogs and simply get away with it.

and at main events where titles and money are involved there is no room for risk.

and on the issue of children being brought up around racing dogs; i have been brought up all my life around our whippets (as many of the young people in racing) and i was told and taught not to feed the dogs before or when they were racing.

its not hard for a child or young person to learn not to feed the dog is it. its the same sort of principle as teacing them manners, making sure doors are closed and washing behind the ears! :)

as for the dogs picking things up from around the house; well we all know how greedy and how big scavenger whippets are.

all thats on their minds whilst in the house is food, food, food! ???

so i suppose that will always remain a problem if they are kept in the house.

but drug testing should remain in whippet racing, because if you havn't tampered with your dog, then surely you have nothing to hide or fear? and anyone who would delibratly tamper with a dog or its test is just sick.

definatly my longest post so far :p heheh :c

Ok as for saying young children can be taught not to feed the dogs when racing, how can you teach a toddler not to feed em?

have you ever watched a toddler wi the dogs??

i myself have been racing the same as you and know about not feeding them but my mum tells me that me and my twin thought it was a game to drop food on the floor and see which dog ate it first when we were at the toddling age!!

Not always as easy as it seems is it??

Also you said about if you have nothing to fear you would agree with the testing thats true but i think it all should be done professionally by a totally independant body! which obviously would be way to expensive as we all know!!

And as for ppl tampering with dogs or samples are sick i agree with ya!!

after racing greyhounds and whippets over a long period of time .. too long i think ...ours allways get coffee tea and chocolate ,wether i give them it or they steal it, its a poor excuse for failing a drug test what a load off crap, the guys in the labs surly know the difference between the above and enhancers as most people will know you cant make a donkey run any faster with any amount of drugs isnt the trouble with testing really down to zero tollerence,, you might get 2 people taking a breath test one will pass on 3 pints the other fail on 2 pints dosnt it depend a lott on the individual ... the moral is dont drink and drive
