Drugging statement
I have given this incident much time and consideration, so not to act in haste or anger. Also, thought as to where I might make this statement. Should I do it live in front of everybody at a race trophy presentation, face to face, my preferred method! Questions questions, but is it fair to hijack an open with such negativity! I don’t think so, so here I am.
As many of you already know!
On the 27th Nov 2011 at the Gems Lad open. Deneside Cruz won scratch sup. One of many opens he has won since September (same year). By 11 pm that night I had a phone call telling me that the news of Lionel being drugged had gone the length of the country. If the party accusing me had been brave enough to have said on the day, instead of “you know what you’ve done” I would have offered and demanded that he be tested! These are serious and slanderous allegations to which action could be taken.
I believe Lionel is capable of winning again. I would like to invite the dog’s owners to put their money where their mouth is, and pay for Lionel to be tested. I will have a sterile test pot with me ready! It will have to be done by someone official.
All our 3 dogs are as loved and spoilt as can be. Their health and happiness comes before anything, including top ten points! I will continue to syringe water and electrolytes into him inbetween races when he is too excited to drink. I will continue to rub him down, cool him down, and continue to look after him as best as possible. As some others do too! One of our friends uses a turkey baster so not to be confused, but, alas, wouldn’t be a good look for me!
May I also remind you that I have only been doing whippet racing for over a year. You are always posting how can you attract new people into the sport! Maybe you need to also look at how to keep them! This incident sickened me to my stomach. I do not drive 4-6 hours on a Sunday for a hobby! To end up wanting to take legal action, or the old fashioned method!
