Personally I think that there is no need for drugs testing. Other people think that there is.
So what do you all think?

The WCRA committee we have now have a much better chance of getting it right, than the committee we had 10 years ago. They have their minds on running racing, and don't have their knives out for particular people/dogs.The W.C.R.A. tried this 10 years ago and could not get it right then so what chance have they got now.
My sentiments exactly - and i like to think thats how most people think with any racing dog - ped, non ped, lurcher or any dogKim and Tilly said:I thought Whippets were pets first and racers second, i for one wouldnt stoop so low, put my dog in danger, just to win

i think some people do fill there dogs of crap to win and it makes me mad :rant:Kim and Tilly said:As a new comer to racing, and without a champ in the making, i can honestly say i do it for the fun, to see my dog run, the chance of winning sometimes, the people i have met and the friends i have made....
The thought that i would pump my dog full of crap so i could see it cross the line before someone elses dog, and win a slightly bigger trophy is laughable.

Spot on Steve only 2 of the nwrf committee were aware that we were testing at Devon, its quite hard to find vets willing to take time out and travel to events thats why at least one committee must be aware when they are testing plus you need to pay for the vet and also a cheque for the vet to send to the lab...ectkipper fluke said:Unless done properly a complete waste of time / money---effort
1st a vet should conduct tests--he/she and he/she alone should know when and who is to be tested
( not any person on any committee as they can and do tell mates when and where testing is to take place this should not happen only the vet should know)
he/she should be given a list of meetings ---
he/she should arrive unannounced to carry out proceedure---
that way all racers are on a level playing field and in my opinion this would be a far better form of deterrant than any other way --
it might stop those who know only winners were to be tested pulling out of finals in order to miss testing--
(this is only my view on it personally) not aimed at any individual at all--------------------

i may have traveled hundreds of miles as well of other expense .
we dont go for the plastic trophys we go to compete with dogs on equal terms
I quite agree Chris, there are more important things in life - but we were asked for an opinion - so gave it. I don't spend much time at all wondering what other people are giving their dogs - I just know I wouldn't give anything to, or do anything detrimental to my dogs whether it was performance enhancing or not. It would however be nice to know that no one else is either. Like others have said we put a lot of time and money into racing, and we'd all like to compete fairly. The chocolate and coffee thing is not a worry at all, as I don't think it would make that much difference to a dogs performance - there are far more crooked things out there though. Most of them are harmful to the dogs health, so you'd have to be quite evil to use them.COME ON there are more important things in life than worrying if Joe Bloggs is feeding his/her dog chocolate / coffee or not .... Of course this is only my opinion !!!
