Hi, I was wondering what to do with my dog as she has a bit of dandruff. I give her tuna/pilchards every couple of days to tey to give her a glossy coat. Her fur is very soft and shiney it's just a little flakey. What can I do?

I do brush her every other day but thought that might make it worse, but I'll keep on brushing then. I was hoping there was a capsule or something to give her. How often would you give them?

Brushing will stimulate oil production in your dogs coat. :D

hi i'am goin giv the linseed capsals a go as my Zena's coat is shiny but jus lately ave noticed flaky white dandruff. i wz told i wz feedin her 2 much protein so wz goin rethink her feeding plan. but i will giv da linseed a go 1st :thumbsup:

thanks

Trying rubbing a little bit of liquid paraffin into your hands then give the dog a good rub down... brush the coat backward then give him a good groom. In a few days you will notice a difference.

Evening Primrose Oil is good, too, but any kind of oil in the diet will help. A teaspoon of olive oil on her food, or even a knob of margarine can help.

I was going to say the same, sometimes dandruff/scurf can be down to too high a protein or poor quality feed.

Plenty of grooming and a little oil as others here have advised will help. :thumbsup:

EDIT to add;

How often do you wash your dog? Sometimes too much bathing using shampoo and other products on the dogs coat can cause problems. Just a thought.

i used to get this with the dobermanns its quite common with them but looks awful on a black dog.mackerel,herrings,pilchard or sardines given once a week will start to show improvement also i used to use brylcreem anti dandruff for men cream.put a small amount in your palms and rub into the coat them brush it in.works a treat! :thumbsup:

A lot of very good advice by all

Groom with a hack saw blade

If you use the hacksaw blade to brush the fur in the opposite direction it loosens the dandruff which can then be brushed away.

:blink: id be a bit scared to use a hacksaw blade on my babies :sweating: knowing my luck i would cut one of them :sweating:

Beau loves it and dances around when I use it.

Make sure you dont over do it with the hacksaw blade though,cause you could end up with a dog with very sore skin, and a few wee baldy bit's. ...Billy...
