out of interest do most breeders take deposits to help stop time wasters?
I always take a 10% non-returnable deposit. I can't say that I find timewasters upsetting/annoying cos surely it is better that they change their mind BEFORE they have the puppy than once it has gone to a new home???

I was upset when Bertha's litter sister was returned at 5 months old and she was a bag of bones, purely because they hadn't fed her enough and then had the cheek to tell me that their Vet had said she was in perfect condition!!

Needless to say that when I eventually re-homed her they did not get the price they had paid back (less the 10% deposit) and they were most upset about that and told me that if they had sold her themselves they could have got MUCH more! Hmmmmmmmm..... luckily they had signed a contract saying she was to be returned to me and they had assumed they would get their money back (not that my contract says anything about refunds) so did just that!!

i would only buy a pup from a breeder who does want the pup back if things do not work out...its a sign that the breeder cares...

just as breeders care what homes their pups go to , buyers want evidence that their pup has come from a good breeder too:thumbsup:

i would be heartbroken if a pup i bought didnt work out :( and all i would want is to know the pup would be going back to someone who loves it...i wouldnt give a toss about the money nor would i expect a refund anyway:angry:

poor bertha ..hope she is in a happy home now :luck:
