I always take a 10% non-returnable deposit. I can't say that I find timewasters upsetting/annoying cos surely it is better that they change their mind BEFORE they have the puppy than once it has gone to a new home???~whitecross whippets~ said:out of interest do most breeders take deposits to help stop time wasters?
I was upset when Bertha's litter sister was returned at 5 months old and she was a bag of bones, purely because they hadn't fed her enough and then had the cheek to tell me that their Vet had said she was in perfect condition!!
Needless to say that when I eventually re-homed her they did not get the price they had paid back (less the 10% deposit) and they were most upset about that and told me that if they had sold her themselves they could have got MUCH more! Hmmmmmmmm..... luckily they had signed a contract saying she was to be returned to me and they had assumed they would get their money back (not that my contract says anything about refunds) so did just that!!
