was going to suggest the same myself

i am useless at trimming things , the kids wont even let me trim there fringe

its easier with brindles as i remeber doing jans and didnt do such a good job but you couldnt tell as much as luckily the stripes disguised the mess id made :- "

Tell her to get up early it's not like she has a business to run or anything! (w00t)

But seriously taking a bit off at a time is the best way.

When I was six with my first whippet I chopped the hair on the end of his clean off the day before a show! My Dad was not happy!

Thinning sissors are the best , they dont leave marks !!

I got dog clippers for my birthday (boy does my husband know how to treat his wife (w00t) ) I find them much easier than scissors

thanks

The breeder will be there on time to do the tail, and will have her scissors with her. The breeder has been known to trim many tails at shows for dogs that she has not bred.

She will be there early as Monty's sister is with her party and is in the ring first, (hopefully with her owner) who wants to know what conditioner to use after shampooing! The breeder uses whatever is around at the time. She presumes however, that Monty will be bathed in asses milk and rinsed in finest mountain spring water infused with the oils of wild herbs and mountain flowers.

You won't plait his mane will you Alison !!!

I have to say guys, I do feel like I'm being ever so slightly mocked here :- "

I'm reading both threads with a big grin on my face. And you're not being mocked - it's because we've all been there, done that that we can have a bit of fun with it. I've walked in the ring with a big purple stripe down the leg of my pup (story is on here WAYYYYY back and if you want I can find it for you).

Also - I know Cathie has said she'll be there, but I am also happy to help out if you need tail trimming done if she's not available :D
