can someone tell me how to turn these off , I don’t really want notifications every time someone replies to a thread, have tried to do it , but they keep coming .

Go to your profile, Personal details, preferences, and remove the tick from what you don't want.
I bet that's wrong but I'm sure someone will rescue you.
