Our dog ruby (age 13) has recently changed the way in which she eats. She now seems to almost jerks her head back to push the food to the back of her mouth. A bit like a gulp. Is this normal?

You'd be best getting her checked by her vet. It could be she has something caught in her throat, or there could be a neurological or muscular problem.

That was my first thought, maybe she's trying to bypass painful teeth? Definitely worth a vet check.
