Hi All

Just to bump this back up the list. Having re-read this thread, Esty's question was never really answered (although many laughs were had along the way)!

Now my two have added chewy to their list of scavenged items like fag-ends on walks. Just a short quick walk tonight and yet I still had to stop half a dozen times to pluck gum out of their mouths (some was swallowed). :x Is there a remedy for this - short of moving to a country not peopled by littering pigs?

How bad is/ are discarded chewing gum/ cigarette butts for whippies (or is it like everything else in life...fine in moderation) :-

Esty please tell me Ros and Grover have grown out of it....please! :ermm:

Answers on a postcard please...

They still do it sometimes, if there's too much temptation. They even go for anything white on the pavement that MIGHT be chewing gum, like bird poo!! It's not half as bad since I've been using a collar instead of a harness and have been going to training which means they are a bit better at walking at my side on a shorter lead so just don't get to the chewy as easily. As the weather has got nicer they spend ages each day playing in the garden so don't need a trip around the block which is where most of the chewy is! I've been doing lots of stuff in the garden and they burn loads of energy off while they are out with me so only need one walk -and I've been driving them to a local village which has no chewy and a lovely coastal walk where they can go off lead.

But, yes, I do think they are much better and don't grab at every tissue/ piece of litter like they used to.
