i am new to posting, but a friend posted the news about my whippet emmylou being attacked in greenwich park, and i had such kind response that i am here for advice. Emmylou is now fully recovered and is back in the park, a little more wary perhaps, but thats no bad thing. I am wanting to get a companion puppy for her in the summer, so she always has her own friend to play with. SHe is 2 and has just finished a second season. Now the question is - what is best to introduce with a 2 year old bitch, should i keep 2 bitches, or should i get a dog?

I can't really help as have no experience of your particular situation - but Whippets are such a fantastic breed they appear accepting of everything, so unless you are to get one of them neutered I wouldn't have a dog I would get another bitch. Which is what I intend to do at some point.

Very glad to hear that Emmylou has got over her horrible experience :huggles:

hi ther ,iv introduced both male and female old and younge to my pack and apart from few little fights they soon exceped them ,and are all best of friends  good luck in your search for new baby keep us posted :D

I've got three bitches here and they get on really well, but I also have two dogs which I think makes a difference as they are part of a larger 'pack'.

The situation I would be most wary of is having just two bitches together. Of course it can work, but if they do become 'rivals' bitches can really go for it and do each other some damage - two dogs are much more likely to have a quick spat and sort things out.

A dog and a bitch together will rarely fight, but of course unless you are going to have them spayed/neutered can lead to a whole different set of problems!
