The Geogeous Eric is a fussy eater,He does'nt eat much in the mornings and prefers to eat at 5-30pm.He gets "jerkies" etc....

But he looks a bit thin and "ribby" He is 20" in height now and 11 months old.

What do you give your whippys to fill them out a bit? idea's?

Thanks

Sounds familiar... I've always had a problem with getting Ruby to eat.

She mostly likes meat and rice, which can get a bit expensive. She's a bit of a bunny hunter by night  so she loves that but when she's not bunnying I buy whatever's cheap from the supermarket: liver, frozen mince, sell-by-date reduced fresh meat and sometimes our local butcher has mince for dogs which is even cheaper. I cook it with brown rice, a bit of oil and some veg of some description.

However I also discovered a way to get her to eat complete dog biscuits... I use dripping... I guess you could also use lard... and I melt a chunk down and then add her biscuits to that and rumble them around so they get a delicious :x fatty coating.

Oh and we also have a new puppy which has helped greatly over the past few weeks, introduced a bit of healthy competition... (w00t) so that's always an option!

Cheers,I will try a few of the meats out and Raw tripe :x

He is on Wainwrights complete food and he does like pasta too

Mine get raw tripe 3 or 4 times a week Phil, Ive got used to the smell now..

but never cook it like I did once....the smell in my house was there for a week. (w00t) :x

Raw tripe is the absolute best thing for putting weight on  - I thaw a pack out overnight, then snip it open, hold it at arm's length in the utility room, mash it up with Arden Grange, and feed him there with the door shut so none of the rest of us have to smell it :x - the good thing is it always goes straight away, and he was a fussy eater till he found tripe too!

:luck: :luck:

Best thing I can recommend is another Whippet. :b

Since I've had Lucy the Lodger here I cannot stop Hollie (an only child!) eating! :-

Seems the thought of her food being eaten by someone else makes her eat it all up.

Tripe is great though, stuff I feed doesn't smell too bad either.

I'm not sure if it adds weight but mine love a bowl of goats milk with their breakfast. I love watching them lap it up :)

Which tripe do you feed? not found one that don't smell yet :x

My house is so small :b

Crusaders Best Range.

Best Tripe.

454g pack.

There is a telephone number on packet: Crusader Wholesale Ltd 01245 477107 they are in Essex but may be able to tell you of a local stockist.

Also just see they have a web site:

http://www.crusaderwholesale.co.uk

Hope that helps.

I use grated cheese in our pups compleat meal if their being a bit fussy they love it :) and they love scrambled egg with cheese. and they have a real passion for mashed potato which i add to their puppy chum or any other meat or chicken .hope you find somethink that works for you

raw tripe added to their food really appeals to mine, there is rarely any food left in the bowls at mealtime, it also seems to improve their overall appetite for other foods and has certainly put a gloss on their coats.you don't even need to add that much to their food to see a difference

i soak my lots complete food with warm water so adding a little freeflow frozen tripe when it's still warm means it thaws out really quickly sand i don't have the disgusting stinky stuff hanging round for hours defrosting :x

hope Eric boy's appetite picks up soon :luck:

becka

William wont eat tripe so to get weight on him I have to use lamb but it has to be cooked and boned else he wont touch it. It gets boiled up with pasta and we accidently one day discovered he has a passion for dumplings so he occasionally gets them too

I've been putting a bit of horlicks on Sienna's food to try to put her a bit of weight on she is naturally skinny but too skinny for me, I got the idea from the topics(hannah's I think) bit early to tell f its working yet but I'll let you know, she loves the taste anyway :D

Tripe is the only way to keep weight on my pupsters and as Becky mentioned, the bowls are always licked clean!

Mine are fed twice a day because of the amount of activity they do.

Perhaps its the tripe thats made Stanley 1 and a half inches bigger than his brother?! (w00t)

Mine love goats milk too, I give it to them a couple of times a week. I don't have any problems getting my two to eat, but when Merlin became a bit too skinny last spring (due to his exercise increasing) I gave him some full fat goats milk every day for a while and it did fatten him up.

He will probably fill out as he matures Phil they do through a skinny leggy stage, if he seems fit and healthy I wouldnt worry, give it a bit of time cos if he gets too much weight on it can be hard to shift
