I don't really intend to show her, just a few companion shows for a bit of fun, but I was wondering what people think of her, as I really don't have the experience to know.

Just thought I should add that the mark on her should is a little scrape, doesn't look nice, but its not too bad.

I don't know either! So I am in no way qualified to give you an opinion show-wise, however, as a whippet owner, I think she looks like a very nice functional, practical bitch - and I like her :thumbsup:

I would give her ago at Open Shows,you don't know until you give it a try,but don't give up to easily if you don't get placed,every judge is different.

On the stack, Olivia, I find her to be very pleasing. She has a nice head, good length of neck, lovely topline, lacks a little depth of chest, has a good turn of stifle and good spring of pastern. She is not exaggerated at all, and looks to be a good size.

However the movement shot makes me wonder if she elbows out a bit as you can see the tip of the elbow is pointing more towards the camera than anywhere else. She could be about to turn a corner though or just starting to put the brakes on.

I would like to see a tad more extension of the front leg.

Agree with Lana on all points except one.

Try to get a photo of her absolutely side on not from slightly behind. And see if you could take a picture come towards you, I know this is hard cos the blighters start leaping (w00t)

I certainly think you could give the local shows a try to start with. Dont be too ambitious to start and then any failiure wont seem so hard to take.

She seems quite willing to stand so best of luck :luck:

Particularly informative Alsan- so very kind of you to take the time, I agree that it looks like her elbows turn out, I have been watching her all day and I think it was just the picture, but I'm going to get my friend to help me take some more piccies to see. Also I agree about the depth of chest, as a baby puppy she had good depth of chest, but it doesn't seem to have grown with her, but then she is only 11 months, so it might improve.

Karen, I'll definately try to take the shots you recommend. I took her to a companion show a few months ago and she got best puppy in show which was wonderful, but I haven't tried her since.

 

[Strike Whippets]

She looks lovely Olivia ......She reminds me of my Connie ......completly practical ......the working/racing types seem to be looser in the elbows, wrists etc as it helps with the flexability/running :thumbsup: .........The companion shows are fun and the 3 racers that I've shown in the last few years have beaten show bred Whippets every time (w00t) ........even Reggie (though he did luckily keep his ears down :sweating: ) was 3rd at Frampton beating a Crufts qualified Whippet puppy from a class of 19 pups ...... (w00t) ......Enjoy as we all know whatever the judge thinks we know we have the best dog in that class/show

gorgeous colour, lovely shape, don't know whether the judges in companion shows are looking for Crufts potential but I'm sure she'd win :luck: with her

When i try to take pix of my Genevieve I find that the way she shines make all sort of things look like they are sticking out - just like Esme's elbow. But when watching her moving from any angle it is just not the case. :unsure:

Also teach her to move on loose leash, if she pulls sideways even slightly she will not put her legs perfectly straight.
