Esme is coursing bred, so probably unlikely to be any good for showing, and I am unlikely to do much showing with with her as I spend too much time showing the lurchers anyway (according to OH).

Anyway I thought it would be a good idea to teach her to stand as a puppy in case I change my mind or she turns out to be a stunner. SO I had a go last night and really didn't get any where.

DO you have any advice please :b

Thank you  and I am sorry about the endless questions

I appear to have made her rather giraffe like  (and her tail isn't kinked- I don't know what is going on in the photo  )

I don't think it would matter would it if she looked the part for showing would it  thats a good question actually can you show any dog irrespective of breeding as long as it is KC reg?

Callie and Sienna are both show bred and to be fair don't look like the show dogs on here they are smaller and more toned(thats not a slur on show breds :) ) and I don't think they would be desirable to a show judge IMO even though they are gorgeous :*

Even if you're not going to show it's still a good idea to stand her I think so she looks nice for the pics of all those coursing trophies she'll be winning  :D

It took me ages to stand any of mine they were more interested in what was beyond the table or on it o:)

She looks lovely to me

She's lovely  I have no idea about the correct show stand, we had a try the other day with Alfie.... hopeless :- "

I think you've actually done a pretty good job for a baby's first time at standing. She looks lovely. All you want really at this young age is for her to learn the word and that it means to stay still in that position. Getting her into the stance that looks best for her (the fine tuning of it) can come later.

Why not show her Olivia? - give it a whirl - she might do well.

Your turn now Lesley - some standing pics of Kane please ... hop to it! 8)

Really starting to look like a whippet now isn't she! Has she really doubled in size since last week again? (w00t)

Gelert says to tell Esmé: no self-respecting coursing whippet EVER stands nicely, as they wouldn't want their owners distracted from proper whippety activities (which involve chasing plastic bags at the very least :- " ) by taking them to boring shows, with absolutely nothing to run after. :- "

I have been tempted to enter coursing classes in the Whippet club, but I've never been quite sure what you have to win to qualify.

Do you know the funny thing Lana whenever he's awake he follows me and when I stop he sits down and waits until I start moving again, watch when I try to teach him to sit he'll have none of it

I'll try get some standing pics when Andy gets home from work  don't hold your breath though he's mad (w00t)

Did you not post some stacked pics of Callie and Sienna when they were younger? I seem to remember they looked rather good, and would love to see them again.

Could this be their sister? http://www.whipcat.de/scala/scala.htm

If it is, she is not big either, and seems to be doing well on the continent. As for size, I don't think you should be discouraged that other bitches seem bigger. Maybe that is one reason oversized whippets are sometimes winning today - people don't bring the correct ones for fear they are too small?

Thanks for the encouragement Bard yes I did put pics on of callie and Sienna I thought I might get into showing one day there is just no ringcraft or anything near where I live and we just happened to fall in to the running side of things really.

I'm not sure if that is their sister but she looks very like callie  and their brother Clockwork Orange is doing very well on the show side of things

These are the pics I put on it seems like such a long time ago (w00t)

I love these pics Lesley as I have'nt seen them before either!

Esme is looking well I think! As she is standing beautifully and seems well behaved you might consider taking of her collar and baiting (bribing :- " ) her with something delicious for the next set of pictures (who can blame us for wanting to see more of the cutest of cute Emes?)
