Finally got to meet the puppies today, i've never had to choose a puupy from a litter before, it's so difficult - they're all just gorgeous, but luckily it wasn't my decision anyway, it was up to david. We chose this wee dog eventually, I say wee, but he was actually the biggest of the dogs (not the biggest puppy though), he was one of the most confident - which is good as we already have one dog with serious anxiety problems! And probably the most clumsy - partly cos he has the biggest feet! He's going to be a BIG dog.

The breeders were sooooo lovely, i could have stayed there all day! Their other dogs were all great too,

The puppies are 6wks old tomorrow, so Talisker will be coming home with us in three wks - it seems so far away, should really make the most of the pease and quiet in the meantime though...

anyway - enough talk, here's the wee man himself

He looks great. Do I remember correctly, he is a deerhound puppy?

Yes, sorry - should have mentioned that, forgot i had started a new thread and wan't adding this to the exiting deerhound thread, ooops.

Just beautiful and the puppy is quite nice too. :p  :p

I had high hopes of going for the longest thread in the history of a deerhound hi-jacking a lurcher site you know...Nevermind, I forgive you since your under the spell of:

"A most perfect creature of heaven ... of the noblest northern breed"

The Talisman , Sir Walter Scott

Guess its only right that Talisker (well done with the name choice) has his own thread, mmm.... think there may still be potential for a hi-jack  Look forward to many more pictures and stories.... 9 weeks seems young to get a Deerhound puppy home though, however, pay no heed to me, perhaps that was the "older" way of thinking, and I know he haw anyway...puppies are like kids to me, love other folks - just hard going when they are yours!

Looking nice, I can see this boy getting spoilt rotten, hey Bappit, how come I never get any of those pink smilely things with hearts on when you post anything to me???

Thanx Bappit, and Doxhope, was going to add to the deerhound thread but 1) i thought Talisker did deserve his own thread (excuse my extreme bias and pretentiousness) and 2) i was a bit worried about hijacking the deerhound thread completely with too many pictures etc and 3) there don't seem to br many threads with over 6 pages, i suppose i was worried it might run out or something! :b

I can't believe we're finally getting our deerhound, isn't he such a gorgeous wee man - i'm totally besotted!!

Lovely pup, and I like the name too. In fact I will be almost passing the distillery tomorrow. :teehee:

Doxhope :huggles: great to see you on this thread. :* (will that do?).

Hi Siona,

when you get him home, dont forget to put a post of him so people outside the breed can see for themselves the increadible growth rate of deerhound pups. I know it will only be around three weeks difference in age, but they will be in for a shock. The bitch I have here at 13 weeks old was 27lb in weight and was 19inches ath the shoulder, 7 days later she was 20 and a half inches, and 30 lb. At 19 weeks she was 45lb and 24 inches..Your lad will be even bigger than these..."I think we need a bigger bed" :- "

*Lesley*, you better say if you mean Talisker or Doxhope will think you mean him.

It's amazing isn't it, i'm a bit upset that we won't see him for three wks cos he's going to have grown so much! We did get to take him on his first trip outside though - he was brilliant, the other pup we brought out was petrified and shaking like a leaf, but talisker was bounding around fascinated by everything!

The breeder was telling us that someone who took one of the pups from the last litter phoned him after a few weeks concerned that his pup "didn't do much", he had to reassure him that it's difficult to do a lot when you lie down for an hour and stand up an inch taller

(Biger bed is on order (w00t) )
