I struggled to get a slot for eye testing in Time and looked back as far as I could through both dogs history and neither had any eye problems. Sadly my dog came back with affected hc and then I found out my bitch was pregnant. I think it unlikely any of the pups will be affected by the condition however I would

Like to reassure the new puppy owners if I can. Any suggestions?

If one parent has hereditary cataracts, as I understand it there's a likelihood that 50% of the puppies will.

I would suggest you are honest with the people who buy the pups and agree to either take them back or pay for surgery if they develop the condition.

Or, if she is still less than 45 days from mating, use the Alizin injection.

Thank you for your reply. Vet advice with cataracts would be no treatment unless it affects their vision. Our dog is 6 and we would never have known.
I’m wondering how he got hereditary cataracts when there’s no history as far back as 7 or 8 generations?

I am no expert in genetics, but I guess that means these dogs can be carriers without developing the condition.

Are these tests actual DNA results, or health test results from a vet
