Last week Annie got an eye infection, the vet saw her the same day and gave me

Fucithalmic ointment for her. Her eyes looked much better the next day and I continued with the ointment for a further few days. Alf had the infection too but very mild, with him I only noticed a little sticky stuff in the corner of his eyes but gave him ointment too to clear any infection there. His eyes are now completely better.

Annie's infection was more severe, the whites of her eyes looked red and sore, she was squinting alot too, but the ointment soon cleared it up.

I noticed yesterday that the colour of her skin around the inner corner part of her left eye has gone pale, the dark pigment has gone. There is no soreness or hairloss or irritation in that area and it is not raised at all. I'm really hoping the pigment returns.

This must have something to do with the conjunctivitis she had. I am going to get in touch with my vet again for advice but wanted to know if any one here has come across this with their own dogs.

Yes, they've both had that and the pigment came back. I think its like a scab coming off when you've got a tan- it leaves a white patch and with exposure to the sun and elements the pigmentation comes back.

In fact Tess has a patch by her eye at the moment where she had a scrape.

Aww hope Alfie gets better :luck: - lovely eyes all the same.

You'll probably find that it will take about 4 weeks for the pigment to return. My blue bitch Gracie scraped her skin just above the nose in August & it took 'til the end of September before the area turned blue again.

Thanks for that, feeling less worried about it now.

Just seems odd that this area around her eye has lost the pigment as there hasn't been any injury to her eye lid.
