I have recieved the proposed lease 'contract' from the council today.......................from asset and valuation dept. The gist of it is that they want us to pay the following

£ 500 rent per year, payable monthly I think( works out £10/ week)

£ 350 to have the council draw up the contract and to make it official.

£ 350 public liability insurance that the council state we have to have.

£ ??? insurance costs for the buildings included in the lease ( altho wot a bloomiin rusty tin box needs insurance for is beyond me)

Copies of the contract will be available to club members to look at from Joyce at stockton on sat.

Have had some thoughts talking to Joyce...............those being

1) Lost revenue from the club for the 12 months not able to run because of councils and their contractors failings to uphold state of the track.

2) Contact NCB and local MP - maybe we could persuade them to claim expenses for upkeep of track ( does look like a moat sometimes!)

3) Contact both BWRA and NNWRF to ask for letters from both org supporting whippet racing and local clubs ( or something)

If anyone has anymore ideas, please feel free to post as I think we might need all the help we can get :(

Could anyone from the Rising sun have comments back to any committee member by Tues next week at the latest. thanks.

chris

maybe get in touch with the local paper ie evening chronicle maybe make some kind of story out of it and try and get some funding that way. like family sport needs help to keep small whippet club going. get all the kids together and play on that it keeps them occupied etc. worth a try.

do we have to pay the rent when we r not racing? as i think when i ran it out of 52 weeks we only raced something like 35 this eas due to opens and flooded track or frozen etc

shop about on the net for liability insurance, folks on here might have prices,

maybe an open with proceeds to help with over heads .

god cannot loss this great venue. :luck: :luck:

how about a sponsored walk or sponsored anything,to help.

any help in any way 100% with the rising sun :luck: :luck: :luck:

Not sure what the arrangements are carole but from what i can gather we have to pay for 52 weeks whether we use them or not. Dont think we can get round it but will arrange to meet with the council once people say how they feel and if they want to try and get the club running again or not.

that wud b fun a spondered walk, maybe a sponsered whippet walk lol

Dont think it's worth anything now, altho if NCB can come up with a written document we might have a chance. Going to contact them this weekend again, but nothing could be found last time.

whose NCB?

the NNWRF and BWRA have public liabillity insurance with CLIVERTON a lot less than the council are quoting Joyce or Dee can give you the phone number.

the NNWRF will be happy to write a letter of support etc

How long have you been running there? Might be worth discussing with Citizens advice about your elligibility to tenancy rights.

Is there no longer a miners welfare?or some sort of body that operate for miners rights in your area ?--GOOGLE IT!!!

When i approached a local Council member he told me whatever the sport the council are supposed to cater for it and support it --

even if there are only four or five members ==

Lottery Grants are an option we many years ago when steve and julie were racing got 400 pounds for a container from it--

I have always thought the best way with a council is the press getting envolved find out how much other clubs get supported by council--Football/Tenis/bowls etc. Get a good story about how its for all the family young /old /disabled --grandma/grandpa---any one at all--more affordable if local with all cut backs-fuel prices etc---

Then theres the libary/old press cuttings look for local history about Whippet Racing-as part of our heratige--

Main thing is have all the answers before questions are asked --previous good relations with council! --show them pictures of what Kirkaldy and other councils provide --Free!!!!!!all just to promote the area for tourist--

Local radio love a good child and pet story/relationship ---being spoilt by council cut backs---hope some of this helps
