Archibald was a bad boy this morning and suddenly took off across the fields, through the hedges and I could see him sprinting off up the hill a few fields away -

He wasn't chasing anything I could see, just the scent. He eventually came back very puffed out about 10 mins later, I gave his ususal check over and he had quite a few scratches and covered in thorns.

It wasn't til I got him home and was bathing his little cuts he sat down and then I could see a big hole at the bottom of his brisket (w00t) About 2 inches long and wide. The old barbed wire....

So he's now down at the vets having a GA and getting stitched together :( Some of the skin was still there so hopefully they can stretch it across :x

Unfortunately I had just given him his breakfast, so I have everything crossed that'll be safe

Hopefully I'll be able to pick him up late this afternoon :luck:

Good luck with him.

i'm sure everything will be ok.

Awwww poor lad - hope he's ok :luck:

:luck: :luck: :luck: all goes well and :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: for the poor lad

why is it when they are in full hunt mode they don't seem to care too much about crashing through brambles and bouncing off barbed wire but as soon as they have to have an incy wincy little injection they turn into drama queens

hope all goes well with Archie at the vets and that they do a nice neat job  :luck: :luck: :luck:

:huggles:

:luck: for Archie's stitching ... he's a tough nut! ;)

Good Luck to Archie :luck: :luck: and some :huggles: for you both.

He makes me laugh as he WILL not walk up a footpath if it has a bramble or a stinging nettle across it - but as soon as his nose is to the ground or he spies something - nothing stands in his way at all!

Thanks for all your wishes - he such a crazy hunting whippet though I have been waiting for something like this to happen for a while, thank goodness its not any worse :b :luck:

I just hate leaving a dog at the vets :( :(

awwwww poor Archie, hope he is ok, :huggles: :huggles: to both of you

Boys will be boys! :luck: :luck: for Archie at the vets and :huggles: for you Jo. Must have been a bit of a shock!

:luck: Good Luck Archie :huggles: Hopefully you'll soon have him safely home :huggles:

It's vile leaving them at the vets. I do know what you mean.

I hope that he's back home with you now. It's amazing that they don't feel injuries like this for so long. But good 'cause if you can get them to the vets quickly and the wounds not too big they can simply be cleaned and stitched up without a GA.

Pity that Archie's war wound was so big. Next comes the hard bit keeping him still to let it all heal up. :huggles:

Poor Archie- sounds nasty :( :luck:

:huggles: Jo- I hate leaving them at the vets too :(

Just caught up how is he Jo, ok I hope and not too sore :huggles: :huggles:

Big :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: to Archie ........... poor boy and all because he was having a bit of fun ! o:)
