:( it is with great sadness that i write this, low window a greyhound i used to look after at the kennels died on wednesday he had cancer a little bit about him, he was a lovely big black dog he ran at shawfield and from the moment he came in to the kennels i claimed him as mine he was one of my favorites, mr window as i liked to call him was a funny dog he had a weird shaped head it was like a gorilla and a bit flat as well. i used to take nice treats to work with me for him at dinner time, some stew, roast beef and chicken to mix with his dinner he would come out his kennel and wait next to my sandwich box to see what i had for him. before we fed the dogs alan would go and get a bucket of water to wash the dishes and i would go in mr windows kennel and play with him while waiting on the water. it was funny when he went to shawfield for his races because when he walked in to the kennels he would stand and growl and he had a mean growl  . hughie is a paddock steward at the track he checks the dogs earmarks and when mr window walked in hughie would not touch his ears because he growled and he was scared of him then he had to be weighed and the racing manager alex would take a step back from the scales when mr window stood on them he would not bite anyone i think it was just because he growled and had a mean look people were scared of him  . he retired from racing three and a half years ago and beth got him a home with a family he loved the kids in the family and they were all the best of friends. one time the woman phoned beth and beth said to her its like an echo is your phone ok and the women said im in the toilet :x and beth said oh right then the women said im not doing the toilet i cant get out until my son comes home from school as mr window keps growling at me he is standing in the doorway, beth said if he is playing you up i will come and get him, the women said no we love him and are keeping him, her son came home from school and the dog followed him in to his room. he had three happy years with them then he lost a bit of weight and seemed to be in pain, he had xrays and tests and a lump was found on the top of his front leg the vet operated on wednesday and mr window died while under anastetic. the family are devasted at his death and the boys said they have not only lost a great pet but they have also lost their best friend. i often thought about mr window and beth kept me updated on him and when she told me today about his death i had an empty feeling inside me, i will always remember him and im glad he did not suffer. r.i.p mr window.

What a sad story, but at least he knew love & happiness in his life from you & his final family, bless him.

What a sad story but at least he found a loving home when he retired

RIP MR WINDOWS

RIP Mr Window you sound like you had a wonderful life with some lovely people you met on the way. :huggles:

poor, misunderstood mr window :( at least he died without pain, having known so much love from you and his family

Nice to know Mr window had a loving family right to the end. Sounds like they thought the world of him.

It's such a sad fact that only a few lucky ones get a good life when their racing days are over.

RIP Mr window

HIS JOURNEYS JUST BEGAN

**********************

DONT THINK OF HIM AS GONE AWAY

HIS JOURNEYS JUST BEGAN

LIFE HOLDS SO MANY FACETS

THIS EARTH IS ONLY ONE

*****

JUST THINK OF HIM AS RESTING

FROM THE SORROWS AND THE TEARS

IN A PLACE OF WARMTH AND COMFORT

WHERE THERE ARE NO DAYS OR YEARS

*****

THINK HOW HE MUST BE WISHING

THAT WE COULD KNOW TODAY

HOW NOTHING BUT OUR SADNESS

CAN REALLY PASS AWAY

*****

AND THINK OF HIM AS LIVING

IN THE HEARTS OF THOSE HE TOUCHED

FOR NOTHING LOVED IS EVER LOST

AND HE WAS LOVED SO VERY MUCH
