 Whilst at Asfordby I coudn't help but notice that there was a lot of dog dirt left on the ground  some of this dog waste was around peoples caravans even though their dogs had not made the mess ? we had to clean waste up from around our awning our dogs had not done this ?? and I am sure a lot of other people had to as well :- " Most of the whippet fraternity always pick up after their dogs but there are a few who do not :b

What do you all think to bringing in a system where fines are imposed, simply if you do not pick your dog waste up and dispose of it in correct manner then you get fined  I am sure after everyone left the champs the Asfordby committee and BWRA committee had to go around and clean up the grounds?

DO YOU THINK THIS IS RIGHT THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE TO PICK UP YOUR DOGS MESS

i had to pick up quiet a bit of there peoples mess and on a few cocasion saw peopel leaving there mess and i nicly passsed them some bags. We had to clean the vans carpet when we got back cos someone had studd in mess and got in the van so that stunk aswell. I think some sort of fine or somthing would be a good idea but dont know how you would inforce it as everyone willsay its not there dog done the mess

On the whole after 3 days racing the field was not to bad. I am not defending these sort of people , but most of the mess is left at night when it is dark people can oftern miss or not evan notice there dog has emptied.

We went round as best we could on tuesday morning and there really wasnt that much to clean up, most folk did a very good job of cleaning up behind there dogs. And I thanked them on another tread for doing so.

Thought there was a law out that if u did not pick your dog mess up u got fined or maybe im wrong and it might be only in some area's of the country

I think it applies to a majority of the country, a £50 fine i think and some councils name and shame some culprits, but werent the Champs on private land so therefore would be up to the land/club owners to make rules about it.

Just a point though....it wouldve been better to have a few more bins and emptied more often as they were overflowing.

I noticed a lot of people at night without a light so they wern't picking anything up cause. you couldn't see your hand infront of your face never mind dog dirt. People know you have to pick it up so they should have a light with them instead of leaving it to other poeple to pick up during the day.

its a £1000 fine round here where i live. i agree with jojess i had to pick up a bit from round my caravan but whose to say it was off whippet people there r loads of people use that field and i expect a lot of dog walkers. but i say if u c a whippet person leaving it then politley hand them a bag as fallen angel does. as 4 picking it up on a night time we have a lantern like torch which i hold whilst peter takes the dogs out one by one therfore he can easily pick it up and... thats after having a good drink lol

ok its private ground so we should have someone off the commitee watching out for these people and giving them a fine, and the money go to whippet rescue or some new traps ect....

Now John has got a very good point. The club members worked hard so you could all run your dogs. The bwra committee all worked very hard for us members.

Now I didnt plough though any dog doo all weekend which makes a nice change from sitting with a bucket of soapy water and a brush scubbing off my wheels :x

So we must have been in the clean area  . Evan I can manage a touch and doggy bag in the dark.

I think George could have a point and I am putting his name forward to lead a team of members to patrol day and night , fine the offenders and pass the money to whippet rescue.

So who is going on Georges team of dogy doo BUSTERS

well johng it was only a idear but if the commitee do nothing i do not think asfordby club will be very happy and they might just say have a nice day to the whippet people and we do not want that to happen, but if someone see's a person or persons letting there dogs empty there selves they should go straight to a commitee member and report he/she straight away.

:D sorry in advance but Im in a daft mood
makes me almost glad my girl has problems performing anywhere else but in our garden :D seriously, though, its the duty of any responsible pet owner to ensure that any mess made is cleared up. not doing so is highly stupid..all sorts of things can be passed on, not only to other animals, but children as well. the problem is enforcement, because no matter how many bins available, idiots persist

I think Wendy's ( fallenangel ) way of dealing with it is the best one

Ey come on I am a responsable owner and I do pick my dogs mess up. And as I said before those who stayed till tuesday went round cleaning up. As far as I know Asfordby club where happy. Nothing was said to us when we thanked them for a nice weekend and said good bye.

i now have a vision of the B.W.R.A comittee roamin the field in the dark with torches handing drunken people poop bags lol or announcing over the tannoy system " cud the owner of the dog thats just pooed near the club (or wherever )please pick it up" lol sorry i know this is a serious topic but i just had that vision in my head. anyway i think we r all agreed fallen angels way is the best and if we all do it then there shud be no poo left by us. ;)

we vcould have poster done if your dog does this pick it up

We were thinking on the same lines Carol lol 3am in the morning being woken up to PICK THAT UP and flood lights going on.

I think Wendy's poster on all the bins would be nice as well .

Before anyone starts I was joking about the flood lights

A very good idea fallenangel :)) maybe the councils would give each club some doggy bags to hand out at each meeting like they do up Scotland ...then no one would have an excuse not to pick up :- "
