This is the season of mists, and mellow fruitfulness... and  whippets that disappear off into the gloom for hours  Every year he catches me out. I was getting really worried, as I could see about 20 horses going full pelt in the distance, possilbly with hound behind :sweating:

Fortunately, he eventually came from the other direction; he'd only been to raid the bins and hadn't been trampled to death. On the way back we saw a strange, ethereal glow bobbing across the gloom, which turned out to be a terrier with one of these things on:

flashing tag

Anyone else tried them? I love being out at dusk in the mist, listening to the wading birds' strange calls, but the disappearing dog act makes it quite nerve-wracking

Mr Bartholemew sells reflective collars with flashing LEDs, next time I go I'm buying them one each.

I use the Mikki flashing collars (medium size). I have tried the Pet Blinkers as well which are very pretty but come undone very easily and then the batteries drop out and also you cannot see them when the dog is going away from you. The flashing collars you can even see through trees though

Yes, I wondered that, although the glow around the terrier could be seen for more than 50 yards (I think he thought the light was some sort of new-fangled, night-time lure, he was desperate to chase it :sweating: . Fortunately he was on the lead by then); the battery thing sounds a pain though.

Olivia, since he missed his walk with Tess last Friday, he's been disappearing over the horizon at speed towards every dark, dog-shaped thing :b At least it keeps him fit

I have these attached to reflective harnesses. They are great but they have a tendancy to come undone.

Mind you I have had the smart of 'Thought they were police dogs!!!!!' Blue flashing light...........
