I really want to get out and get fit, so I thought the perfect answer would be to take up a hobby with the dog. Something to keep her mind active as well as keeping her fit.

I am not looking to enter competitions or take it too seriously, so I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on which would suit my situation better?

I do like the look of the face paced environment of flyball however the handler doesn't really do much in way of running from what I can see (I could be wrong).

In regards to agility, this looks like a lot of fun, however I have a labrador cross who knows basic commands but not much else, however she is very quick to learn.

She has just turned five so she is getting on a little bit but she does love her tennis balls and will play fetch for hours.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Agility is good fun and exercise for both dogs and handlers. Contact a local training club - a good club/trainer will keep it safe and appropriate for you and your dogs capabilities. Have fun!

I contacted a couple of local dog training clubs yesterday, as even if I don't take on a hobby, it can't hurt for me to learn a bit more.

Just waiting for them to come back to me.

They are both really good exercise for you and your dog. Although once your dog has learned what to do at flyball, there is not much for you to do except stand at the end of the run and wait for her to run to the box and back. Why not do both??? I have one dog that is ball obsessed but she wont do flyball, then I have another dog that couldn't care less about a ball.... until it's in the flyball box!!

Whatever you decide to do.... HAVE FUN!! ;) x
