Forest, 4 ½ year old Lurcher boy - Stroud, Gloucestershire
This is probably one of the hardest homing ads we have been asked to write as it features a lovely dog known to us since he was a puppy. Forest’s owner is a lovely young man who is terminally ill with limited time. He wants what is best for Forest and has asked us to find him a home that will love him as much as he does and give him what he needs. Forest is currently still living with his owner.
Forest is a Bearded Collie x Greyhound and has been with his family since a baby – he was a naughty puppy, full of mischief! But those puppy days are over and Forest grew up into a stunning, beautiful and well balanced dog.
Forest is a Lurcher and in the woods he will chase after things but he has never killed or attacked anything he just likes the chase. He has even come across baby deer and has not hurt them. He lives with a cat with no problems but will chase other cats when out.
For a Lurcher his recall is pretty good over the park although in the woods it can be a bit hit and miss as he will sometimes take off, but always comes back. His owner says “with him he is fine but if other family members take him out he will muck them around sometimes so he needs a confident owner who Forest can respect as this boy needs to be able to be let off the lead”. He loves to go to the fields and have a ball thrown for him and will race around with the other dogs.
Forest is the most loveable dog and a lovely gentle boy- he loves nibbling ears and his love for his master is very obvious to see. He is fine being left for 3 - 4 hours.
We need a 5 star home for him who can give him a wonderful life. We think Forest would be best an only dog only because that is how he has lived or perhaps with another girly doggie friend - his Daddy said “Forest adores Whippets and he always dreamt about getting Forest a little Whippet sister”.
Forest has been neutered and will be vaccinated & microchipped prior to homing.
If you are interested in offering Forest a 5* home for life please email for our questionnaire in the first instance to: starfishdogrescue@hotmail.co.uk
Please note that any potential home will be subject to home check.
