I don't know how he did it but Fred seems to have broken his tail. :wacko:
I just noticed it was looking a bit limp at the end and a bit out of line. We think he must have wagged it a bit hard and knocked it, poor chap.
Having searched the forum for some tips, I read that a good way to let it heal itself is to splint it with a curler. Someone has given me a small, lightweight velcro curler and we've taped both ends with bandage tape. It seems to be doing the trick. I'm not going to let a vet amputate it at his age, and he'd just pull off any bandages they'd put on. He's on the metacam just in case.
He doesn't seem to mind it at all or be in any pain (even before we administered the metacam)...it should amuse the local dog owners as it's not uncommon for him to sport some weird accessory or other, the odd little black boot, lampshade, woolly jumper etc :teehee:
