My Mum is a keen knitter and offered to knit Fred a second jumper. I bought the wool and here is the end result. I'm really pleased with it and it gives me a chance to wash his other one :b  , as he wears a jumper constantly now.

Here he is at my mother's house, in front of the fire (I know...he doesn't really need it on when he's in front of the fire but he doesn't seem to mind (w00t) )

Thats lovely....looks really warm and cosy.

Your mum should take orders!!!

 Very smart!! He looks lovely and snug in that :)) Im envious of the fact you can put a cup of tea down without it being pinched! Its got to the stage where I have to make Vinnie his own cup

Aww Fred looks so cosy in his new jumper

I just love the oldies

Awwww, Fred looks very snuggly in his new jumper. He'd really need it back here today Nicola - quite a cold wind and showers. Happy Easter!

That looks great Nicola, well done your mum! It's a really easy pattern, isn't it? I'm happy to pass it on to anyone else who wants to have a go. I find they do need an occasional wash because they go baggy and washing pulls them together again.

Custom made, what a lucky chap

Even the colour is perfect.

If the pattern is easy, I would love to give it a go. Old Foxy feels the cold these days.

Yes, it is dead easy. You can make it a bit more interesting if you want by doing some fancy stitches in the main part. When I did Fred's first one I did a knit row on the reverse side every 8 or 10 rows to make a textured stripe. Enjoy!

WHIPPET JUMPER

Double knitting wool. Approx 6oz yarn, size 4 mm needles.

(For large whippet/greyhound use chunky wool and larger needles.)

Cast on 76 stitches K1 P1 ribbing for 2 inches

Then stocking stitch to 18 inches including the ribbing

Decrease 1 stitch each side each knit row, to 56 stitches, then work in ribbing K1 P1 for 5 inches which makes collar

Underpiece - Cast on 30 stitches and work in ribbing K1 P1 for 4 inches increase evenly to 36 stitches and still ribbing continue until 9 inches.

Decrease 1 stitch beginning and end of each row to 1 stitch. Cast off

Sew together leaving a hole on either side for whippets front legs to go through

Collar folds back like a turtle neck sweater.
