Wow, fab pics, was it a competition or a demo? How is it judged?

All my 3 whips do frisbee so am interested in how it works in competition. :- "

We tend to turn up at a venue to do an "event" and if there is enough of us turn up (which is a minimum of three handlers and 6 dogs) then we run a competition. At Selby we had quite a bit of interest but no one came for a competition, most of the events that are left this year will have a competition.

It is scored quite easily (all the info you really need is on the score sheet), the playing arena is marked off in to zones, 20 to 40 feet, 40 to 60 feet and over 60 feet. You score a different amount of points depending on where your dog catches the Frizbee. It also depends on how your dog catches the frizbee, if your dog jumps up so all his paws are in the air he wil score maximum available for the zone he is in, if he just retrieves it, he will get minimum points in that zone, but if he does catch it, but then drops it, he scores second lowest score on the otherhand if he catches it but with his feet on the ground, he scores second highest.

All the info is available via our website FrizbeeDogz and Forum (don't have to join to view, just to post).

Yay, you've come South at last (w00t)

The pics are fab

I am very interested in coming to your event near High Wycombe, Winx would love to try this

Will it be a competition there, or one of your training sessions?

Thanks

ALL events have either a training session or time for free practice during the morning, and it works like this: If you are a newcomer (not been to three events before) you will recieve, if you wish, a few tips on how to play the game and how to get your dog to bring it back. If your dog already does this, fine, use the time you are allotted to practice.

All this is followed by lunch, which is followed by the OPEN event - don't worry if your dog still isn't doing it, it would be difficult to get a dog to do it at one event, it normally takes a little practice.

Following the OPEN event is the HANDICAP event which works as follows. How ever many points you finished behind the winner of the OPEN, you will recieve 9 tenths of this as a handicap, giving you a reasonable chance of a placing in the handicap event. So if the winner of the open scored 120 points, and you scored 20 in the open, the difference is 100, therefore you will recieve 9 tenths of this, in this case 90, as your handicap to start the handicap event with.

Whether or not the H Wycombe event will be run as a "have a go" or not will depend on how many people attend, from the interest I've had so far this should be a proper event with rossettes up to fourth place in each competition.

At this event some of us are camping together and having a BBQ between the Sat and Sunday event. Not quite arranged where yet but somewhere arround MK I think so it breaks up the journey a bit for us northerners.

Thanks so much for the info

Can I book in on your website, or do you have paper entries?

I should probably go and have a look, but I generally miss things out or do it wrong unless I have proper instruction 8) (w00t) :b

Thanks

Normally our events are "just turn up on the day" events. Times to be there, cost, and directions will be posted on the forum nearer the time under the relevant heading.
