Can i use frontline on her she has 19 days till she whelps?

I never use anything on my girls from the moment they come in season. If she has fleas, wash her, catch what you can see (daily) wash all her bedding and treat all other animals in the house. That should do. :thumbsup:

Why don't you just go over her with a flea comb?,it's far safer :thumbsup:

Yes you certainly can frontline your bitch. In fact in Australia vets advise the use of Frontline about ten days before they are due to whelp. (If feas are a problem in the area where you live)

All mine are heart wormed and Frontlined monthly. I don't have fleas where I live.

I am not sure if I killed them all off but I would not be game to stop the using the product to find out. Also I am in area where there are ticks.

this is the first time i have found a flea on my dogs in 2 years, i have treated all the others but not her. I have checked her all over and can only find the 1 flea.

I wouldn't risk putting anything on her like that, whether the manufacturer or your Vet says it is safe or not. She is not likely to die from having a flea whereas you do not know what effects toxic products could have on her or her unborn puppies!!

Better safe than sorry!

If you have treated the other dogs, this will also work on your bitch, if she is allowed to be with, or sleep with them.

I have heard of some people that keep two dogs together and only frontline one.

The next month they frontline the dog that wasn't done the month before.

At least you are only treating one dog every two months.

I Personally think it would be much better treating the bitch now, then having to treat 2 week old puppies DON'T YOU?. I would use frontline on her but i wouldn't use it on 2 week old puppies.

Simple thing is ask your vet.

I asked my vet about putting front line on my bitch, when she was is whelp.

The answer was DEFINATLY NOT, i was told to wait untill she was no longer feeding the puppie's.

Best leave well alone, use a flea comb :thumbsup:

This was advice from my vet Mally ! There are many ways of ridding fleas from mum and pups (yes maybe a bit time consuming using a flea comb) but don't use chemicles, they are absorbed into the blood stream which happens to be keeping the pups alive via their plecentas ! I did it once many years ago and lost the whole litter, the bitch aborted at 7 weeks

well my dogs have never suffered from fleas maybe this is down to me using chemicals!!!!!. Niether did the litter of pups i bred, i don't think this was down to luck (even though i had no need to treat the puppies). I work my dogs and they come into contact with fleas and ticks almost on a daily basis. I use the frontline dropper on the two whippets and the frontline spray on my lab pup. WHICH WAS ADVISED BY MY VET.

My bitch jess was treated for fleas whilst she was in whelp with frontline spray, AS ADVISED FROM MY VET, she had ten healthy pups and weaned them all.

I'd say a huge NO .........I've had problems with my Collie and frontline ......it made Ellie really :x :x .........I personally wouldn't risk using it on a bitch in whelp ..........Try some of the puppy flea powders as i'm sure they'll be MUCH safer .........sprinkle it on, rub it in then brush it out .........Just my personal opinion though ...... :luck: :luck:

Im glad but a bit worried for you that you have complete faith in you vet. Mine says absolutely not.

IMO the really clever answer is Millies, No. Get some soapy water and a flea comb keep them under control in a safe way. Mally, not sure if you have kids but would you rub Frontline on them anywhere?

HAD A FLEA COLLERON.

PUPS NOW 4WEEKS OLD AND ARE ALL OK

MOST THINGS NOWADAYS ARE SAFE OR VETS WOULD NOT BE SELLING IT
