FROSTY

Meet Frosty! Frosty is a 2 year old greyhound boy who wasn’t quite fast enough for the racetrack. He is quite small and dainty for a boy and has a realty gorgeous face with big pleading eyes. His black coat is a bit dull at the moment but that will quickly improve with some good food.

Frosty is a realty lovely little fella who just wants someone to love him. He is affectionate and friendly and has a lovely temperament. He really enjoys his walks but isn’t overly hyper or bouncy.

Frosty gets on well with our other greyhounds and enjoys being in their company. He has not been tested yet with smaller dogs or cats, but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before, and at the start may not realise they are dogs!

Sadly Frosty has not yet experienced living in a home, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It generally takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience.

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

**UPDATE: FEBRUARY 2011**

Frosty is still waiting to find his forever home, and we would really like to see him out of kennels soon so that he can start to really enjoy life. Frosty remains a very lovable, affectionate boy and is anxious to show what a good friend he can be. He thrives on human contact and is sure to adore the home life.

Frosty’s coat has improved since coming to us, and he is starting to get a nice healthy sheen to his black coat. Frosty also, as his name suggests, looks like he was left out in the frost – his black coat has a very pretty smattering of white flecks running through it.

Frosty is still a young boy with oodles of potential. He is very good with other dogs and would do well in a home with another doggie friend or two to keep him company and show him the ropes. He is good to live with small dogs, but is not cat friendly.

Frosty is currently being kennelled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick him up. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Frosty, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!
