As everyone knows, it now costs the earth to get about, I'm trying to work out how many miles per gallon my van does.

Is there some way of working it out that doesn't involve having a degree in maths

I put £50 worth of diesel in today and that gave me 38.49litres.

I've set the milometer back to zero & when the fuel light comes on again :- " I'll see how many miles I've done. But I don't know how many gallons are in 38.49 litres

I'm already confused, maths never was my strong point

Any one know how to do this?

38.49 liters is equal to 10.168 gallons

38.49 is equal to 8.46 Imperial gallons your calc is working on US Gallons

an easy way to get a rough guide is to your MPG is

Divide your £50 by 6 (ie: £6 a gallon) gives you 8.3 gallons for your £50.

then take your milage after your light comes on and divide that by the 8.3 that will give you your rough MPG.

Thats cheating :- "

Thanks everyone, some very helpful info there. 8 & a bit gallons doesn't sound very much for £50 does it?

I'll be doing a fair bit of travelling over the next week so it won't be long before I can work out a figure.

Cheers,

Julie
