Sounds Rather worrying to me that the fashion to create a purposely bred designer dog such as whoever started labradoodles, cockerpoos, etc. Such a shame when there are many dogs especially crossbreeds languishing in rescue kennels through no fault of their own.

Couldn't agree more. Go to any rescue centre and look and the absolutely beautiful dogs languishing in kennels through no fault of their own. My rescues were the best thing I ever did.

Why oh why do people do this...... :( :(

I guess they want to be recognised as breeding a unique type of dog. Ive always had rescued dogs from rescue and rescued myself and it annoys me no end, when you only need to go on the internet to see thousands in rescue and they are the lucky ones that have got themselves a place. All those unfortunate ones that dont ever get a chance of a lovely home. Breaks my Heart.

Oh this is one of my pet hates and I've almost come to blows with folks about it......the labradoodle folk are the worst! They are ADAMANT that their dogs ARE pedigree and tend to get rather snotty if you remind them that an F2 doodle is just a MONGREL!!!!! Two pedigree breeds = a crossbreed.....2 crossbreeds = a mongrel!!!! ;)

As I always say to folk there are more than enough wonderful pedigree breeds out there that were selectively bred to do all manner of jobs - hunting, retrieving, catching rabbits, being a companion etc - so WHY do folk need to try to create more!!!! Especially as the rescue kennels are bursting at the seams!!!!!

To me it's rather immoral to pay somebody £500+ for one of these glorified mongrels when there are so many loving dogs in rescue......I'd rather give the shelter the money than somebody who is only doing it to make a fast buck!

I agree with you completely, Foxglove!!

Totally agree and well said Foxglove!

My dogs are all rescue mutts and they are wonderful, but why anybody is deliberately breeding mongrels is beyond me - let alone why anyone is willing to pay the sort of amounts they are are asking for them

I did a tongue-in-cheek thread about my 'designer dogs' a while back :p

That's so the pups don't eat too much and the numpties get the maximum profit from them! Thank heavens dogs don't breed as quickly as cats or rabbits.....the puppy farmers would be having umpteen litters off each poor bitch (they [probably do anyway!!!)
