Many thanks for all your kind thoughts and sympathies at the death of our Mr Tumnus.

I wasn't thinking clearly when I wrote the first post, so a few things I missed:

He was just 8 years old

He was fully innoculated and always has been. I queried the suggestion of parvo made by some of you with the vet this afternoon. She assures me that during the post mortem it would have been clear to her from inflammation of his gut if that had been the case.

We are still awaiting the results of a number of lab tests.

Some of you will have searched under CERENIA on the net. I found a post on Yahoo from a chap in Texas about his mum's dogs death following an injection. He says Pfizer paid for the post mortem and lab tests. I do not know if any or all of this is accurate. I am trying to find out from the veterinary college in Texas that performed the post mortem.

As a very irrational response to what has happened we have decided to have instructions placed on our dogs notes that we do not wish CERENIA to be administered to them.....

It is very likely that we will never be 100% about what caused this heart breaking death, it is also likely that it had nothing to do with CERENIA but you have to take some action so that you don't feel helpless.

I have just read your original thread, very sorry for your sudden loss

thats terrible im so sorry for your devestating loss but i also have to thank you for taking the time to write what must have been a very upsetting post i will certainly make sure mine are never given cerenia so you should look upon it like this you have suffered the tragic lose of your darling whippet so young but you have probably saved countless others by posting so for that im truly grateful r.i.p dear mr tumnus :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

I really don't think you are being irrational at all. Until all the tests come back and your Vet. can assess the results I believe you are doing the best for how.

Please let us all know your Vets. findings when you have them.

It is frustrating when sometimes no clear cause can be found for these very upsetting events

I hope that your sadness is quickly replaced by fond memories of your Mr Tumnus.
