Just wondered if anyone on here uses Royal Canin for dogs and what they thought of it? I use it for one of my cat's and it seems a good food.

Megan is on James Wellbeloved but is a nightmare of a fussy eater (w00t) She wants to eat anything except the dog biscuits and I buy her a slice of roast beef at Tesco's deli counter most days as I worry she's not eating enough! I can put her bowl of biscuits down and they can still be there the next day, she sometimes picks at them carrying them one by one through to the living room and having a munch, but rarely eats them in a oner. I have tried mixing them with grated cheese and sometimes I grill a bit steak mince and mix that through but she eats/ licks the cheese or mince and then spits the biscuits all around the dish  I also have bought the new JW pouches that can be fed as a topper or mixed through the biscuits and she eats it and spits the biscuits back. However I have just sent for some Royal Canin Mini biscuits (samples) and she has eaten them, however this could be a fad and once she realises that is what she is getting she might not want them either. They are much smaller biscuits for her little mouth. The vet told me to keep her on biscuits as it is far better for her teeth. She isn't under weight or anything. I just wish she would eat a proper meal instead of picking :- "

My lot are on Royal Canin, mixed with a bit of raw beef/tripe and they love it!!!! We decided now to stick with Royal Canin as they love it and looking well on it  They are on the Meduim Adult and the youngest is on Junior :D

talulla, one of my whippets has never eaten dried food in the three years we have been owned by her....

all four of my dogs are now on the dried food from - the natural dog food company - posted direct to your door if there is not a stockist close-by, completely natural and wholesome.

i would not go back to the yo-yo feeding i did before - trying everything on the market just to add a bit of texture to her wet food.

it truly is a fantastic food and they send out large free samples and great info sheets - may be worth a try - i never thought i would see talulla eating dried food and loving it

i add veggies to one meal every day and fresh fish a couple of times a week - the rest of the meals are just dried biscuits with a sprinkling of warm water added to help release the yummy gravy x

good luck!!

Hi Dawn,

Thanks for the reply. I will see if the little madam will carry on eating it! I have been sent four sample bags so if she eats them all up , I'll go order a bag at the pet shop down the road, as my local Pets at home don't do the Mini just the medium and maxi. I have a whole unopened bag of James wellbeloved and a half bag. If she prefers the Royal Canin, I'll just take the JW to the cat and dog home or the RSPCA I'm sure they will use it up :)

Your Max certainly has a lovely shiny coat :)

Hi Tracy,

That might be another option. I have never heard of that food before, it's good they send out samples as well  It doesn't help that everytime my aunt comes in she raids the fridge to see what Megan can have to eat . Everytime Megan sees her coming up the path she goes into a frenzy as she knows she's going to get a titbit. I'm sick of telling her to stop as it doesn't help the not eating her biscuits problem
