GEORGE

George is an 8.5 year old ex-racing greyhound. He has a gorgeous white coat with faint black spots all over that makes him look a bit like a Dalmatian. George came to us in a very poorly state, covered in dirt and fleas. Several baths and bowls of food later, he is now a different dog and a real eye catcher.

George is a lovely, easy going boy who adores people. George always has a waggy tail for you and hops about in front of you waiting for a fuss when he knows you have come to see him. His favourite thing of all is ear rubs! He is a quirky little lad and loves to ruffle his bed up and lay down on top of it like a cherry on a cake!

Gorgeous George is now in foster care where he is relishing the joys of home comforts for the very first time in his life. He enjoys his food with gusto, though it has to be softened for him as the dear chap only has 8 teeth left to munch with! He is clean in the house and settles well over night, although he is an early riser. George travels well and likes to air his ears with his head out of the window!

George walks well on the lead and to heel. Like most greyhounds, George will not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week. George's basic recall is coming on and he can go off lead for a run.

George is good with all dogs - large and small, but is not cat friendly. He does get excited when dogs run past him and he can't get off to play with them, but this soon settles. George would be suited to a quiet family with older children and maybe another dog for company. He is a very easy dog to have, content with the simple comforts of life, and is sure to make someone a very special companion.

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

This gorgeous boy is currently in a foster home in Norfolk, UK. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in adopting George, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!
